Job description

ASMARK INSTITUTE

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

Do you notice the missing step before everyone else feels the pain from it? Are you the kind of leader who asks thoughtful questions, listens closely, and turns unclear needs into clear direction? Do you enjoy helping people grow by raising the standard, not doing the work for them? If you are a curious, steady, business-minded product leader who can turn complexity into clear next steps, we want to talk to you!

Our ideal Director of Product Management is:

  • Accountable and Steady: You follow through, own the outcome, and help others do the same. You stay grounded in facts, even when conversations are hard or priorities are competing.
  • Curious and Discerning: You ask good questions and listen for what is not being said. You know how to separate what matters from what is just noise.
  • A Tough but Fair Coach: You set a high bar and help people rise to meet it. You are firm, fair, and direct when the work is not where it needs to be. You teach, challenge, and support others in a way that builds confidence and accountability.
  • Business-Minded: You understand that product decisions have real impact on the business and its future. You think about client needs, utilization, efficiency, revenue, and long-term value.
  • Clear and Collaborative: You can work with technical and non-technical people without creating silos. You communicate early, respectfully, and plainly so people know where things stand.

Our ideal Director of Product Management will help Asmark build stronger products and stronger product owners. In this role, your ability to bring clarity, accountability, and good judgment to complex work will directly shape how ideas become priorities, how teams work together, and how Asmark continues creating value for the clients who rely on us.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This role brings structure, clarity, and accountability to how Asmark turns ideas, customer needs, and business priorities into product work we can execute on.

  • Build and lead a strong product function with clear standards, ownership, and accountability across Product Owners
  • Ensure product work is ready before it reaches Engineering, including discovery, requirements, priorities, acceptance criteria, and readiness
  • Own the product roadmap and operating rhythm so priorities reflect business goals, customer needs, team capacity, and long-term product direction
  • Create backlog discipline that keeps the team focused on the right work, in the right order, with clear priorities and dependencies
  • Strengthen the handoff between Product, Engineering, UX/UI, and business teams so product work moves forward with clarity and alignment
  • Bring stakeholder input into the product process early so customer needs, business priorities, and technical realities are understood before decisions are made
  • Build practical product rhythms that make progress, capacity, blockers, priorities, and decisions visible to leadership
  • Lead and develop Product Owners into strong product thinkers, communicators, and problem solvers
  • Use clear measures of product success to connect customer value, adoption, retention, revenue growth, and team efficiency
  • Lead clear communication around product updates, release plans, tradeoffs, and decisions across the organization
  • Identify process gaps, capacity issues, and execution risks early, then create practical solutions that keep product work moving
  • Use tools, data, and emerging technology to improve product workflows, documentation, and team effectiveness

** This role is full-time and may be based onsite in Owensboro, KY, hybrid, or remote for the right candidate. Relocation assistance may be available for a candidate interested in joining the team in Owensboro. **

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Departmental leadership experience in a product, software, technology, or cross-functional delivery function, with ownership of priorities, team performance, and measurable results
  • Direct people leadership experience, including coaching, accountability, performance standards, and quality of work
  • Experience managing software, platform, or technology-enabled product work from idea through release, with responsibility for successful delivery across stakeholders
  • Experience building operating discipline through clearer process, documentation, tools, accountability, or operating rhythms
  • Strong product and business judgment, with experience prioritizing work based on customer value, operational impact, efficiency, revenue, ROI, or other measurable outcomes

Preferred

  • Experience working with LMS or compliance-driven platforms
  • Experience in a regulated or operationally complex environment
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve workflows and documentation

Desired

  • Experience in AgTech, agricultural retail, safety, risk management, compliance, training, or related industries
  • Familiarity with EOS or similar operating systems
  • Strong understanding of product metrics, KPIs, and business case development
