About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Field Safety Specialist for our client, CC Power, to help promote and maintain a strong culture of safety across our field operations. This role works directly with crews throughout Michigan, providing safety guidance, conducting field observations, supporting training efforts, and helping ensure every employee returns home safely at the end of the day.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about worker safety, enjoys being in the field, and can build strong working relationships while confidently addressing safety concerns when they arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to job sites throughout Michigan to support field safety initiatives and safe work practices.
  • Conduct safety observations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments on active job sites.
  • Work closely with field crews to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to employees on safe work practices, PPE requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Assist with accident investigations, documentation, and incident reporting.
  • Support safety training programs and employee safety education efforts.
  • Monitor compliance with MIOSHA, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and required documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Assist with emergency response planning and safety-related initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in field safety, construction safety, utility safety, or a related environment.
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or other safety certifications are a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with field personnel.
  • Ability to address unsafe behaviors respectfully, professionally, and confidently.
  • Genuine passion for worker safety and helping employees work safely every day.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Michigan and occasionally stay overnight when business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in utility, power line, construction, or infrastructure environments.
  • Safety certifications such as CSP, CHST, or equivalent credentials.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience conducting safety training, incident investigations, and jobsite inspections.

Work Environment

This is a field-based position that spends the majority of time supporting crews at active job sites throughout Michigan, including Cadillac, Big Rapids, and the Upper Peninsula. While overnight travel is uncommon, occasional overnight stays may be required for remote assignments or storm response activities.

A company vehicle is provided for business travel. Storm deployments are rotational and may include additional overtime opportunities.
