These sessions are facilitated by a moderator and typically take place via video conferencing platforms, allowing participants to join from any location. Remote focus groups are widely used by companies and researchers because they save time and resources while still enabling rich, interactive discussions. They often include activities like group discussions, surveys, and screen sharing to collect qualitative data. Participation is usually compensated, either with cash, gift cards, or other incentives.

Technical Lead

The C2 Group

Grand Rapids, MI โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

Position Summary:

The Technical Lead at The C2 Group serves as the senior technical advisor responsible for turning client strategy into a sound technical approach, clear documentation, and high-quality execution. This role connects business objectives, platform architecture, .NET development, integrations, and AI-enabled solutions so client work is practical, scalable, and aligned to outcomes.

The Technical Lead leads complex technical problem solving and owns the most challenging development tasks, integrations, and technical decisions. This person brings strong experience in the .NET space and understands how to guide teams through architecture, code quality, performance, maintainability, and implementation decisions. Experience with Optimizely is a significant bonus.

This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience building AI-enabled workflows, writing agents, and applying automation in ways that solve real client problems. This individual is comfortable consulting with clients and internal teams, documenting technical direction, and helping The C2 Group keep pace with innovation without losing sight of quality, supportability, and business value.

The C2 Group is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We support a flexible and remote work environment. This role requires the ability to attend in-person meetings in Grand Rapids as needed with a preference to candidates located in the Midwest.

About C2:

The C2 Group builds, integrates, and delivers business-critical web solutions that get the most from technologies, tools, and teams. Our primary focuses include strategic problem solving, web and application development, agentic solutions and implementation, and ongoing support.

About You:

Technical Advisor - You're the bridge between big-picture strategy and ground-level execution. Clients trust you not just because you understand the technology, but because you can make it make sense - translating complex architectural decisions into clear, actionable direction without losing the nuance that matters.

.NET Problem Solver - Gnarly .NET, C#, CMS, and integration challenges are where you do your best work. You don't shy away from complexity - you lean into it, methodically working through the layers until a clean, defensible solution emerges.

AI-Minded by Practice - You're not just aware of AI trends - you've built with them. Designing intelligent workflows, writing agents, and finding the right spots to apply automation are part of how you think about modern solutions, not afterthoughts bolted on at the end.

Documentation as a Deliverable - You believe documentation should be treated the way good engineers treat code - it should work. From architecture to standards to handoffs, the documentation is clear for the next person.

Quality by Instinct - Maintainability, security, performance, accessibility, and long-term support are non-negotiables. You build things that hold up, and you notice when something won't before it becomes someone else's problem.

Curious as a Working Style - You are drawn to better patterns, sharper tools, and reusable approaches that improve outcomes driven by genuine interest.

C2 Core Values:

Intentional - Intent drives how we engage in our work and interact with others. Deliberate action, focus, willingness, empathy, and staying calm under pressure each exemplify being intentional. We seek to be purposeful in our actions and thoughtful in our delivery.

Enthusiastic - Enthusiasm shapes our actions while demonstrating knowledge, passion, and confidence. Our work requires maintaining a realistic and positive vision for the future. Whether it's in service to team or task, we look to engage with a positive focus and energy.

Low Ego - Maintaining a low ego provides the right context for serving others. While we are all talented and unique contributors, we realize success is ultimately a team pursuit. We aspire to be accountable, receptive to feedback, and team oriented.

Technical Lead Job Accountabilities:

Own Technical Processes

  • Define and maintain the technical process for intake, triage, escalation, resolution, and learning loops
  • Clarify which technical issues can be handled by the team and which require deeper consulting, architecture, or leadership attention
  • Convert recurring issues into better standards, documentation, training, and support practices
  • Partner with Solution Architects to keep priorities, ownership, and resolution processes clear

Own Technical Approach, Documentation, and Quality Standards Against Client Strategy

  • Translate client strategy into a practical technical approach, architecture direction, and implementation standards
  • Own technical documentation for architecture, integrations, data flows, decisions, assumptions, and support handoffs
  • Set quality standards for maintainability, performance, accessibility, security, scalability, and long-term support
  • Review technical plans and completed work to ensure they align with client outcomes and agreed standards
  • Keep technical standards current, usable, and clear enough for the team to apply consistently

Lead Execution of Complex Development Tasks and Integrations

  • Support the highest-risk .NET, CMS, API, and integration work that requires senior technical judgment
  • Design and implement integrations across Agentic, MarTech, ecommerce, CRM, ERP, and third-party platforms
  • Troubleshoot complex bugs, performance issues, data problems, security concerns, and platform constraints
  • Support engineers through technical decisions, code patterns, and implementation risks without taking over every task
  • Ensure complex work is tested, documented, supportable, and ready for client use

Support Technology Consulting and Solution Scopes

  • Participate in discovery to understand client systems, technical debt, constraints, business goals, and desired outcomes
  • Shape technical recommendations, solution options, assumptions, risks, dependencies, and scope boundaries
  • Translate technical tradeoffs into plain language so clients and internal teams can make informed decisions
  • Partner with Strategic Consultants on feasibility and proof of concept
  • Support a clean handoff from consulting and scoping into documented technical execution

Own Technical Innovation

  • Evaluate new technologies, AI-enabled workflows, agents, automation patterns, and development practices for practical client value
  • Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts that help validate technical feasibility, business value, and implementation risk
  • Create safe standards for AI implementation, data privacy, security, human review, and supportability
  • Bring forward improvements to .NET, Optimizely, integrations, DevOps practices, and reusable, automated work tasks
  • Share learnings, tools, and examples that help The C2 Group improve quality, speed, and client outcomes

Education & Experience:
7-10+ years of software engineering, technical consulting, .NET development, web application development, or enterprise platform experience

Strong experience with .NET, C#, APIs, CMS platforms, integrations, architecture decisions, and complex technical problem solving

Hands-on experience designing or building AI-enabled workflows, agents, automation, LLM integrations, or similar emerging technology solutions

Experience creating technical documentation, quality standards, solution approaches, and implementation guidance for client-facing work

Optimizely CMS and/or Optimizely Commerce experience is strongly preferred
