Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Fire Protection Designer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fire sprinkler system design, code compliance, hydraulic calculations, stock listing, and coordination with clients, engineers, and field personnel. This position requires a high degree of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs and layout drawings using HydraCAD Software
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and material take-offs in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
  • Review architectural, structural, and mechanical plans to ensure proper system coordination.
  • Prepare submittals, fabrication drawings, and as-built documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to ensure design intent and code compliance are achieved.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Stay current with updates to fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, etc.).
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in fire sprinkler or fire protection design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and/or Revit.
  • In-depth knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, and other related standards.
  • NICET Level III or IV in Water-Based Systems Layout (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of building and fire codes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects.
