Job Description

As the District Controller, you will lead financial strategy, operational analysis, and business decision support across the district. The position partners closely with regional and unit leadership to evaluate performance trends, identify operational opportunities, and support actions that improve profitability, strengthen controls, and enhance client outcomes.

The role is responsible for comprehensive financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and analysis, while also translating operational data into practical insights for field leaders. The District Controller will support internal and client-facing discussions by preparing clear reporting, highlighting key risks and opportunities, and recommending actions that align financial objectives with operational execution.

The District Controller is a key financial leader responsible for driving profitability through district-level financial planning, reporting, analysis, and operational support. This role supports district and unit leaders by reviewing P&L performance, labor and cost trends, cash flow, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital activity, and other operational drivers that influence financial results.

This position is remote-based, with periodic travel to district sites required for internal meetings, business reviews, operational walkthroughs, client-facing meetings, audits, and other account-support needs. Site visits are intended to strengthen partnership with operations, improve visibility into financial and operational performance, and support timely issue resolution.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The Salaried rate for this position is $80,000.00 to $110,000.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead financial planning and analysis: Develop annual forecasts, budgets, projections, and reporting packages at both venue and unit levels, with a clear connection between financial results and operational performance drivers.
  • Provide district operational analysis support: Analyze sales, participation, labor, food cost, controllable expenses, cash trends, inventory, and other operating metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and recommended actions for district and unit leadership.
  • Drive financial accountability: Oversee cash flow, cash and banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, capital expenditures, and other key financial processes to support accurate results and strong internal controls.
  • Create financial reports and insights: Manage weekly, monthly, and annual reporting; convert financial and operational data into clear insights for corporate partners, regional leadership, operators, and clients as appropriate.
  • Support internal and client-facing meetings: Prepare financial summaries, business review materials, variance explanations, and operational insights for internal meetings, client reviews, and periodic on-site discussions.
  • Ensure compliance: Lead audits and ensure contract compliance, including cash, accounts payable, policy adherence, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance in partnership with internal auditors and operational leaders.
  • Develop and train teams: Support the financial development of finance and operations teams by reinforcing financial acumen, process discipline, reporting standards, and policy compliance.
  • Client communication: Partner with leadership on client communications related to systems, reporting, program changes, and financial performance, ensuring alignment with business and contractual objectives.
  • Support operations: Provide financial and operational guidance to unit leaders and work directly with the Regional leadership to support district goals, issue resolution, and performance improvement.
  • Drive growth: Develop pro formas, financial models, and decision-support analysis for new business, program changes, capital requests, and revenue growth opportunities.
  • Special projects: Lead regional and account-related initiatives as directed by Region Leadership, including process improvement, reporting standardization, and operational performance analysis projects.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial experience, preferably in AP/AR, payroll, financial reporting, operational analysis, and P&L management or relevant industry experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead financial strategies, improve margins, analyze operational performance, and drive profitability.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to present complex financial and operational information clearly to finance, operations, senior leadership, and clients.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically for site visits, internal meetings, client-facing meetings, audits, operational reviews, and account support needs.
  • Ability to take initiative, identify process improvements, influence cross-functional teams, and lead change.
  • Willingness to work event-based hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods during site visits or operational support.
  • Compliance with uniform requirements and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
  • As the District Controller, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping financial discipline, strengthening operational visibility, supporting client partnerships, and driving sustained district performance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems; experience converting financial and operational data into actionable reporting and decision support.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial processes, including cash flow management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, capital expenditures, and profit and loss (P&L) management.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls, including audit, compliance, and SOX requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate operational trends and connect metrics such as sales, labor, cost of goods, inventory, participation, and controllable expenses to financial performance.
