Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Head of Finance based in Netherlands.

This is a senior financial leadership role responsible for shaping and overseeing the full financial architecture of a multi-entity, international organization operating across the United States and East Africa. You will act as both a strategic partner and hands-on finance leader, ensuring strong financial stewardship, compliance, and long-term sustainability across complex, multi-country operations. The role combines high-level strategic planning with deep operational execution, including financial modeling, forecasting, and donor-funded program management. You will work closely with executive leadership and the board to translate organizational strategy into actionable financial plans and performance metrics. With significant exposure to international development and grant-funded environments, you will help optimize resources while safeguarding impact and accountability. This is a high-impact position where finance directly enables large-scale educational outcomes across emerging markets.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide strategic financial leadership by partnering with executive leadership and the board to translate organizational strategy into financial plans, forecasts, and performance frameworks.
  • Own and maintain multi-year, multi-entity financial models that integrate program strategy, funding scenarios, headcount planning, and operational assumptions.
  • Lead financial planning, scenario modeling, and investment analysis to support organizational growth and expansion decisions.
  • Oversee global financial operations across multiple countries, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency in reporting and accounting standards.
  • Manage audits, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements including GAAP, donor regulations, and local financial laws.
  • Strengthen internal controls, risk management frameworks, and financial governance across all entities.
  • Oversee grant and donor financial management, including budgeting, reporting, compliance, and proposal costing in collaboration with program teams.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop distributed finance teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop financial dashboards, KPI/KRI frameworks, and reporting tools to support leadership and board-level decision-making.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience in nonprofit, social enterprise, or multi-country organizations.
  • Strong expertise in nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP), donor compliance, and multi-currency financial management.
  • Proven experience managing complex grant portfolios ($5M+), including institutional and foundation funding.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage financial models, forecasts, and scenario planning frameworks.
  • Experience designing internal control systems and leading financial operations across multiple geographies.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across cultures and executive-level audiences.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online or equivalent) and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership experience managing and developing global finance teams.
  • Commitment to mission-driven work, ideally in education, international development, or social impact sectors.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation aligned with senior global finance leadership roles
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage
  • Paid personal leave and sick leave policies
  • Employer contributions to savings or retirement schemes
  • Opportunity to lead finance for a mission-driven global organization
  • Remote flexibility with collaboration across international teams
  • High-impact executive role influencing large-scale educational outcomes
  • Exposure to multi-country financial operations across the U.S. and East Africa
  • Inclusive and equity-driven organizational culture
