Looking for a fully remote opportunity where you can own cost accounting, influence business decisions, and help modernize processes across a global organization?

We're partnering with an innovative organization operating across technology, consumer products, digital content, and global distribution to identify a Cost Accounting Manager. This is a highly visible role supporting a complex manufacturing and distribution environment where you'll have the opportunity to influence operations, improve profitability, and drive process improvements across the business.

This position is 100% remote with limited travel (approximately 10%) to the company's manufacturing operation in Minnesota.

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting into Finance leadership, you'll serve as the organization's cost accounting expert while partnering closely with operational leaders throughout the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading inventory costing and valuation across raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Managing monthly inventory and cost accounting close activities, including COGS accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Preparing cost analyses, variance reporting, and profitability reporting to support business decisions.
  • Supporting pricing strategies and identifying opportunities to improve margins.
  • Partnering with Operations and Supply Chain to improve inventory management and manufacturing performance.
  • Driving process improvements, reporting automation, and ERP optimization initiatives.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and future system enhancements.
  • Mentoring team members while helping establish departmental goals and expectations.
Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on cost accounting experience within a manufacturing and/or distribution environment.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Inventory accounting and inventory valuation
    • Cost accounting methodologies
    • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounting
    • General ledger accounting
    • Journal entries
    • Month-end close
    • Account reconciliations
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience working within ERP systems supporting manufacturing operations.
  • An automation mindset with a passion for improving manual processes and increasing efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and operational business partners.
  • Comfortable mentoring team members and collaborating across multiple functional areas.

Experience with any of the following would be a plus:

  • NetSuite
  • Microsoft Dynamics Navision
  • IBM i / AS400
  • Standard, actual, and/or average costing methodologies
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Manufacturing KPI development and reporting
  • CPA, CMA, or Certified Cost Accountant (CCA)
