Job description

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company (Merrick) is looking for an experienced Project Manager for our Geomatics Business Unit to manage aerial mapping, GIS and remote sensing projects. Merrick’s Project Managers drive projects end-to-end, which entails estimating, scheduling, revenue recognition, and project delivery.

Primary duties include working with technical leaders to build project estimates, initiating contract review with Merrick’s Risk Management team, facilitating project set up with Merrick’s Financial Services group, developing and tracking project schedules, developing and tracking project budgets, and managing client interface for data delivery.


WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage project costs and schedules through project execution, and proactively notify client or client manager of any risks to project budget or schedule
  • Support sales team with scope of work development and pre-proposal technical questions
  • Perform revenue recognition on all projects each month
  • Work with technical staff and sales team to create cost and schedule estimates on new pursuits
  • Build effective working relationships with internal technical teams and internal support departments (primarily Financial Services, Project Controls, and Risk Management)
  • Using Merrick’s project estimating process, work with Financial Services staff to set up projects, and all associated charge codes, in Merrick’s ERP software
  • Document all project requirements (technical, contractual, payments, delivery method) in project management plans prior to kickoff of any project
  • Oversee any subcontracted work. This includes writing work orders, establishing and managing schedules, and tracking and approving invoices

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Expertise in aerial and remotely sensed data including industry standards, use cases, technical limitations and values, standard cost ranges and standard schedule ranges
  • At least ten (10) years of project management experience
  • At least ten (15) years of aerial mapping and remote sensing industry experience
  • Knowledge of survey, GIS, lidar, imagery, or other remotely sensed data
  • Proven ability to manage and maintain existing client relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work well under deadline pressures and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality
  • Must have experience working with both subcontractors and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works cooperatively with diverse teams; regional, department and technical managers; and project staff
  • Committed to safety, quality improvement, and Company Purpose, Vision and Values
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience using Deltek Costpoint as an ERP tool
  • Experience using suite of Microsoft 365 Apps
  • Familiarity with Esri GIS software
  • Associate’s degree and/or GIS certification
  • Association with any of: ASPRS, MAPPS, GISCI, USGIF, ACEC, SAME, PMI
