SBA Loan Servicing Specialist

Work Authorization: U.S. work authorization required (no current or future sponsorship)
Remote Work Location Requirement: This position is fully remote; however, candidates must reside within the Southeastern United States. Eligible locations include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana.
Candidates must be able to work during standard business hours aligned with the Company's operating schedule and may be required to travel occasionally for meetings, training, or business-related events.
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused SBA Loan Servicing Specialist to support our SBA loan portfolio throughout the post-closing lifecycle. This position serves as a key liaison between borrowers, the Small Business Administration (SBA), internal operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with SBA requirements and the successful administration of SBA loans.
The SBA Loan Servicing Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and processing servicing requests, monitoring loan performance, supporting ongoing portfolio maintenance activities, and ensuring adherence to SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and bank policies. This role requires strong analytical skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and process SBA loan servicing requests, including analysis of supporting documentation and eligibility requirements.
  • Partner with borrowers, internal departments, and external stakeholders to facilitate servicing actions and modifications.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding SBA program requirements and allowable servicing actions.
  • Monitor and manage exceptions, past due loans, loan reviews, and portfolio reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly servicing reports and portfolio tracking documentation.
  • Stay current on SBA Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) updates and ensure compliance with SBA regulations and bank policies.
  • Coordinate the transition of loans from closing to servicing.
  • Perform post-closing audits and support loan draw processes.
  • Manage tickler systems, document imaging, and ongoing loan file maintenance.
  • Support SBA secondary market sales activities.
  • Monitor and manage servicing and draw request inboxes, ensuring timely responses and follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the SBA Operations Team, lending staff, and other business units.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of banking, loan servicing, SBA lending, commercial lending, or related financial services experience preferred.
  • Experience with SBA 7(a) and/or SBA 504 loan programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of SBA servicing requirements and SOP guidelines strongly preferred.

  • Ability to interpret and apply SBA regulations, policies, and procedures.
