Job Summary:
Chemtron/Riverbend (CRB Water) is a leading provider of technical help and products to improve the performance of biological waste and wastewater systems. The Environmental Engineering Specialist position involves collaborating with the Biotechnical Regional Manager to assist clients with process issues in wastewater treatment, support CRB Water Product Programs, collect samples, and write reports, with the ultimate goal of troubleshooting and optimizing biological treatment systems. The applicant must either be an established expert in anaerobic digestion or biological wastewater treatment processes, or aspire to be so within the next few years.
This job would be centered in the Midwest region; the applicant will be required to live or move in that region. The position requires travel (~9 days/month on average) and remote work, with the flexibility the for the applicant to set their own schedule. The travel schedule can vary significantly depending on customer/prospect needs.
Summary of essential job functions:
The applicant must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and clients. He or she must be able to work independently with limited direction and in a team environment on specific wastewater treatment optimization projects within the company. They must be able to analyze data, provide technical reports, and set up logical experimental lab tests to be conducted by the CRB Water laboratory. The ideal candidate will maintain communication with clients, handle client issues, and identify, optimize, and troubleshoot clients' environmental remediation problems by taking lead ownership in solving customers' problems. The applicant must be willing to learn about and sell CRB Water services and products to assist clients with their issues. The applicant will be required to travel to clients regularly. The ideal applicant will be able to work with complex data and offer innovative biological waste and wastewater treatment solutions by utilizing their problem-solving skills and subject knowledge.
Minimum requirements:
• 2-10+ years of field operations or design experience with biological waste or wastewater treatment systems. Experience with anaerobic waste/wastewater treatment is preferred.
• The ability to communicate externally with clients and internally with the CRB Water team members is a must.
• Strong willingness to learn new methods, review scientific work, and collaborate to solve problems.
• The ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet customer and CRB Water goals is a must.
• Strong ability to work with complex data using MS Office® and create concise reports or presentations. Able to utilize Algebraic Thinking for problem-solving. Data analysis knowledge and ability to work with Tableau® software are a plus.
• B.S or B.A degree in Engineering OR comparable Wastewater Operational Experience. Higher education is preferred.
• Ability to run various environmental laboratory field tests to check system performance
• Exceptional troubleshooting and critical thinking skills are essential.
• All applicants must provide a list of processes with which they have hands-on experience.
• Willing and able to travel to Canada and the USA
• Effective communication skills. Capable of doing professional customer and conference presentations and training.
Abilities required:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to travel by plane and car long distances across North America-ability to use a computer effectively for communications, data analytics, and report generation.
