Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SQL Developer based in Netherlands.

As a SQL Developer, you will play a key role in implementing and supporting data-driven reporting solutions for clients across different environments. You will combine technical expertise in SQL, databases, and business intelligence with strong communication skills to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions. Working directly with stakeholders, you will investigate data structures, develop SQL-based solutions, and ensure seamless integration between systems. This client-facing position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, solve complex technical challenges, and take ownership of implementations from start to finish. You will collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams in a dynamic environment where problem-solving and continuous improvement are highly valued. The role provides a balance of development, consulting, implementation, and user support responsibilities.

Accountabilities:

As a SQL Developer, you will be responsible for delivering database solutions, supporting software implementations, and helping clients maximize the value of their reporting environments. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions while ensuring system performance and usability.

  • Engage directly with clients, managers, and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and business requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into effective SQL-based solutions and reporting configurations.
  • Connect remotely to client environments to install, configure, maintain, and support reporting software.
  • Investigate client systems to identify relevant data sources across different platforms.
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret data from databases and business applications.
  • Review existing database structures, relationships, and data flows to support implementation projects.
  • Develop and maintain SQL objects, including views, stored procedures, functions, and tables.
  • Apply database fixes, updates, and performance improvements within SQL Server environments.
  • Troubleshoot database, connectivity, and networking-related issues.
  • Work with Windows Server environments and collaborate with client IT teams when required.
  • Deliver training sessions and guidance to users to ensure effective software adoption.
  • Provide ongoing post-implementation support and take ownership of projects from setup through completion.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong SQL development experience, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

  • Strong professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Advanced SQL querying skills, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience creating and managing SQL views, stored procedures, functions, and database objects.
  • Solid understanding of relational database concepts and data structures.
  • Experience working within Windows Server environments.
  • Good knowledge of networking fundamentals, including permissions, ports, firewalls, and DNS.
  • Experience remotely accessing and supporting client infrastructure.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with confidence working directly with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of projects.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and methodical when troubleshooting.

Additional experience in the following areas is considered an advantage:

  • Understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial structures such as nominal ledger, trial balance, and sales/purchase ledgers.
  • Experience working with financial accounting systems or ERP platforms.
  • Experience deploying or supporting applications through IIS.
  • Knowledge of APIs, application integrations, and JSON-based environments.
  • Exposure to other SQL dialects such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with additional database management systems.
  • Familiarity with C# development.
Benefits:
  • Opportunity to work on diverse client projects involving data, reporting, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Client-facing role with strong ownership and visibility across implementation projects.
  • Flexible remote working environment.
  • Opportunity to develop expertise across databases, integrations, and reporting technologies.
  • Continuous learning opportunities while working with modern technical solutions.
  • Collaborative environment combining technical challenges with practical business impact.
