Job Description Summary:
The Preconstruction Project Engineer Energy Storage will support the preconstruction team, coordinate and manage project deliverables to achieve project profitability and schedule goals. This position is team oriented, fast paced and responsible for the coordination and completion of the assigned projects.
The Preconstruction Project Engineer - Energy Storage supports the preconstruction and operations teams by coordinating technical, scheduling, and constructability aspects of utility-scale energy storage projects. This role focuses on evaluating construction approaches, validating project schedules, supporting EPC bid development, and ensuring projects transition efficiently from preconstruction into field execution.
This role is fully remote. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
Job Description:

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Maintain project documentation and systems including drawings, RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, cost tracking, quality documentation, and CMiC records.
  • Support subcontractor coordination, safety planning, and general project engineering functions with engineering and Operations.
  • Support the transition from preconstruction to construction by coordinating project documentation, scope definition, LNTP development, and operational readiness for project execution teams.
  • Provide general project engineering support including meeting coordination, document management, cost reporting, subcontractor interface, and other responsibilities necessary to support successful Energy Storage project delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering, estimating, procurement, and operations teams to validate design assumptions, equipment lead times, installation strategies, and project logistics while identifying risks related to constructability, cost, and schedule.
  • Assist in development, review, and maintenance of project schedules (CPM) and construction work plans, ensuring alignment between engineering deliverables, procurement activities, and field execution requirements.
  • Track design changes, scope updates, and engineering revisions that may impact project cost, schedule, or construction methodology, coordinating with engineering and project management teams to maintain project alignment.
  • Support development and review of Energy Storage EPC project execution plans, including constructability reviews, installation methodologies, site logistics, and construction sequencing to ensure alignment with scope, schedule milestones, and cost targets.
  • Participate in the technical review of EPC contract documents, project specifications, bid packages, and subcontractor proposals to ensure completeness, constructability, and alignment with project execution strategies.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
  • 1-3 years of Energy Storage construction-related experience, or equivalent
  • Construction related internship experience preferred
  • Energy Storage Field experience a plus
  • Basic understanding of construction cost accounting
  • Basic estimating and scheduling skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Ability to use independent judgment; self-starting
  • Drafting and advanced computer skills a plus
