What are Remote Emotional Support Animals?

Remote Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are pets that provide comfort and support to individuals with emotional or psychological conditions, but whose services or documentation are obtained through online platforms rather than in-person visits. People seeking an ESA typically connect with licensed mental health professionals virtually, who can evaluate their needs and, if appropriate, issue an ESA letter remotely. These animals are not service animals and do not require special training, but they help alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental health issues. Remote ESAs are especially helpful for people who may not have easy access to in-person therapy or evaluations.

You may also collaborate with mental health professionals to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
