Job description

PanelClad is a vertically-integrated, design-build metal-building contractor in California's Central Valley; we design, detail, and erect, and we build the patented equipment that lets our crews move steel faster and safer than the trade standard. We're looking for a structural engineer who lives in Metal Building Software (MBS) and can carry a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) from first geometry to a signed, sealed, code-compliant package; while running the takeoffs that keep our quotes sharp.

Model & Optimize

Build geometry in Metal Building Software (MBS), optimize rigid frames for weight and cost, and configure secondary framing; purlins, girts, bracing- for clean, efficient PEMB designs.

Stamp & Seal

Review, sign, and seal final structural drawings, frame designs, and calculation packages - owning the engineering from first model to stamped set.

Estimate & Win

Run accurate takeoffs and cost estimates directly in MBS during the pre-bid phase, so our quotes stay competitive without sacrificing the design.

Ensure Compliance

Engineer every package to California building codes and stringent seismic requirements, meeting IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AISI, MBMA, and CBC standards.

What You Bringâś“

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BS minimum).

âś“

3+ years hands-on MBS experience - geometry input, rigid-frame optimization, and secondary framing.

âś“

Tekla Structures experience for steel detailing, modeling, and shop / erection drawings.

âś“

Proven track record with work samples: frame designs, calcs, or stamped drawing sets.

âś“

Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AISI, MBMA & CBC and California seismic design.

âś“

Reliable remote office setup with high-speed internet and a quiet, professional workspace.
