PT Special Education Teacher Job Summary:

Responsible for communicating and developing relationships with and supporting Braintree Academy students, and families with Special Education Services.

Teacher Responsibilities:


  • Assessing children’s skills and learning requirements through Standardized Testing
  • Be prepared to explain to parents and general education teachers all evaluations done with students
  • Designing Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans based on data and in accordance with Federal Sped Law.
  • Collaborating with parents and school staff to track students’ progress.
  • Communicate with families as needed. (ie, answer emails, texts, or call within 24 hrs)
  • Develop a positive relationship with families and students.
  • Meet with students as per IEP requirements virtually to work on and meet their IEP goals.
  • Support families with suggestions and ideas to enhance learning as needed.
  • Become familiar with BES Homeroom Resources.
  • Assess students’ abilities and craft teaching plans if direct services are provided.
  • Adapt learning materials to students’ needs
  • Keep track of and reflect on students’ progress through the use of measurable data
  • Communicate regularly with the Braintree Academy Administration.
  • Schedule, send invitations to all those who need to attend and participate in any necessary special ed student meetings within the timelines given.
  • Attend Inservice training as needed.
  • Duties as assigned.

Teacher Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Teaching or relevant field.
  • Valid Indiana State Special Education certification (May apply for certification)
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized with excellent leadership abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
