What you will do
The Electronics Functional Safety Engineer (FSE) is a design and development role within the Advanced Battery Core Electronics Team that reports directly to the Global Electronics Engineering Manager. This important role provides technical leadership within in a team environment to design and develop requirements driven functionally safe electronic circuits as part of the Battery Management System (BMS) that goes into Clariosโ€™ new generation of lithium-ion batteries. The electronic BMS is critical to the performance and safety of the battery. As a
member of this team, you will be exposed to the latest in BMS technology and contribute to developing โ€œbest-in-classโ€ electronic battery controls.
How you will do it
โ€ข Execute the detailed technical aspects of FuSa analysis, requirements, design and verification & validation (V&V)

โ€ข Execute safety analyses (Quantified Fault-Tree, FMEA, Common-mode analysis, reliability analysis)
โ€ข Define electronic hardware requirements and specifications
โ€ข Define electronic hardware V&V plans and methods
โ€ข Implementation of hardware safety design best practices
โ€ข Develop Functional Safety aspects of the hardware DVP&R (System V&V)
โ€ข Support verification (Peer) reviews of design, analysis and V&V prepare reports
โ€ข The Hardware FSE authority: defining specifications and preparing technical reports for hardware engineering requirements, analyses, design and V&V
โ€ข Experience in controls system and electronic system design
โ€ข Collaborate with Systems Safety Team to review Functional and Technical Safety requirements
โ€ข Perform ASIL decomposition and common cause analysis
โ€ข Create Hardware Safety requirements consistent with ISO 26262 Part 5
โ€ข Develop BMS safety concept and support BMS design team (including Systems and Software) in implementing according to ISO 26262 Parts 5 and 6
โ€ข Perform qualitative analysis (FMEA, FTA) and quantitative analysis (FMEDA)
โ€ข Perform Hardware verification and confirmation reviews
โ€ข Work with multidisciplinary team of software, mechanical, system, test, safety, and production engineers to develop a successful product.
โ€ข Follow program timing and deliver results according to plan to ensure successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted timing and cost constraints.
โ€ข Ability to effectively work with and lead in a cross functional team environment with minimal supervision
 

What we look for

Required:
โ€ข Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree
โ€ข 6+ years of professional experience in electronics FuSa
โ€ข Detailed training in ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineering
โ€ข Hands on experience in deriving Functional Safety work products as per ISO 26262

โ€ข Experience or training in safety analysis (HARA, FMEA, Fault-Tree, Common mode analysis)
โ€ข Experience in ASPICE
โ€ข Experience in tools like JAMA, JIRA, GitHub, Cameo System Modeler, Medini
Analyse/Reliability Workbench etc.
โ€ข Experience in SYSML and MBSE
โ€ข Experience in Li-Ion Battery System
โ€ข Proficiency in electronics schematic, layout, and simulation tools (i.e., Altium)
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communicator to effectively communicate ideas
โ€ข Experience in taking electronic safety architectures from concept to production

Preferred:
โ€ข TUV FuSa Certified Automotive Engineer
โ€ข Experience with automotive product development and qualification
โ€ข Safety of the intended function (SOTIF)
