Remote Electrical Project Manager information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote electrical project manager?

To thrive as a Remote Electrical Project Manager, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, project management experience, and a relevant degree or certification such as PMP. Familiarity with project management software (like MS Project or Primavera), AutoCAD, and electrical codes is typically expected. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills help you manage distributed teams and coordinate stakeholders effectively. These skills and tools are crucial for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to proper safety and quality standards, even when working remotely.

What is the difference between Remote Electrical Project Manager vs Electrical Estimator?

AspectRemote Electrical Project ManagerElectrical Estimator
CredentialsElectrical engineering degree, PMP or similar certificationsElectrical or construction-related certifications, estimating licenses
Work EnvironmentOversees projects remotely, coordinates teams, manages schedulesPrepares cost estimates, reviews project bids, works in office or remotely
Industry UsageUsed across construction, industrial, and commercial sectorsPrimarily in construction and contracting firms

The Remote Electrical Project Manager and Electrical Estimator roles share credentials and industry usage but differ in focus. The manager oversees project execution and team coordination, while the estimator focuses on cost assessment and bid preparation. Both roles are vital in electrical projects, often working closely but with distinct responsibilities.

How does a remote electrical project manager effectively coordinate with on-site teams and stakeholders?

A Remote Electrical Project Manager typically leverages digital collaboration tools, virtual meetings, and regular progress updates to maintain clear communication with on-site teams and stakeholders. They may use project management software to track milestones, assign tasks, and monitor budgets, ensuring everyone stays aligned despite geographic distances. Building strong relationships with on-site supervisors and conducting routine check-ins helps address issues quickly and keep projects on schedule. Adapting to time zone differences and proactively managing documentation are also essential for seamless coordination.

Is it possible to work remotely as a remote electrical project manager?

Remote electrical project managers can work remotely, especially for companies that support telecommuting and digital collaboration tools. However, some aspects of the role, such as site visits and on-site inspections, may require physical presence. Strong communication skills, project management software proficiency, and relevant certifications are important for remote success.

What does a remote electrical project manager do?

A Remote Electrical Project Manager oversees electrical projects from planning to completion, coordinating tasks, managing budgets, and ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards. They work primarily online or from a remote location, using digital tools to communicate with team members, clients, and contractors. Their responsibilities include scheduling, resource allocation, progress tracking, and addressing any issues that arise during the project. This role often requires experience in electrical engineering, strong project management skills, and the ability to lead teams remotely.

Job description

Remote (U.S.)

Full-Time
Reports to Director of Engineering
Salary Range: $80,000 -$120,000

Build What Keeps the World Running

At 2NSystems, redundancy isn’t just a concept—it’s what we deliver every day. We design and implement mission-critical power infrastructure for data centers, healthcare facilities, and other high-availability environments where downtime is not an option.

We’re looking for a hands-on Electrical Construction Project Manager with a strong background in the electrical trade—someone who understands the field and is ready to lead complex projects from start to finish.

If you’ve come up through the ranks as a Journeyman or Master Electrician and moved into project management, this is an opportunity to take ownership of high-impact projects across the country.

What You’ll Do

You’ll play a critical role in delivering power solutions that keep essential systems running. This is not a desk-only role—you’ll be involved from initial assessment through final commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site assessments, load studies, and power needs analysis
  • Design practical electrical solutions, including redundancy configurations (N, N+1, 2N)
  • Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for critical power systems
  • Lead projects from pre-construction through execution and closeout
  • Manage schedules, budgets, risks, and resources
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and vendors
  • Oversee field teams and subcontractors to ensure quality and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to NEC, OSHA, and mission-critical standards
  • Review drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Track costs, manage margins, and deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Lead site meetings, safety reviews, and provide project updates
  • Mentor team members and promote a strong safety-first culture

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who combines real-world electrical experience with strong project leadership.

Required:

  • 7+ years of combined experience as an electrician and project manager
  • Background working with an electrical contractor on commercial or industrial projects
  • Hands-on experience with UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Proven ability to manage projects ranging from $500K to multi-million dollars
  • Experience with tools like Procore, Bluebeam, or similar
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • Master Electrician license
  • PMP or formal project management training
  • Experience in data centers, healthcare, or mission-critical environments
  • Familiarity with BIM and commissioning processes

Why 2NSystems?

This is more than a project management role—you’ll be part of a team delivering solutions where failure is not an option.

We offer:

  • Competitive Salary + Performance Bonus
  • Medical Coverage: 100% of employee premium for base plan
  • Dental & Vision: 50% company-paid
  • 401(k) with up to 4% match
  • 3 Weeks PTO + 9 Holidays + Birthday PTO
  • Company-paid Life Insurance (2x salary)
  • Telehealth services covered by the company
  • Opportunities to grow in the rapidly expanding critical power industry
