Job description

Salary: $ 33.53 - $ 51.70


N Line Electric is seeking an experienced Apprentice Lineman (2-year experience preferred, must be at least 21 years of age) to join our team in Longmont, Colorado.


The Lineman Apprentice performs new construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines under the supervision of a Journeyman Lineman.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Build and maintain distribution overhead and underground and/or transmission lines and facilities, both energized and de-energized.
  • Plan jobs to ensure compliance with approved safety and construction standards and procedures.
  • Maintain work records.
  • Stock line trucks and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Drive, maintain, and operate line vehicles and properly stations them for the work to be done.
  • Perform less difficult and/or routine installations and repairs independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot activities, as needed.


EDUCATION:


  • High school diploma or GED


EXPERIENCE:


  • Previous experience as an apprentice lineman or lineman helper. Completion of an accredited line school program is a plus.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:


  • Valid Commercial Driver License (Class A) with acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Perform heavy manual labor requiring manual dexterity under varying weather conditions.
  • Observe, compare, or monitor data to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
  • Perform physical inventory of materials.
  • Perform precise arm-hand positioning movements and maintains static arm-hand position.
  • Proficient in the use of instruments to measure electrical current and voltages.
  • Understanding of basic electric theory and terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and read graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids preferred.
