Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify and address the emotional, social, and academic challenges faced by students.
  • Develop individualized intervention plans in collaboration with educators and parents to promote students' emotional well-being and academic success.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions that focus on issues such as anxiety, depression, coping strategies, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for teachers and staff on mental health awareness, crisis intervention techniques, and effective communication strategies with students.
  • Connect students and families with community resources and support services, ensuring a continuum of care during and after school hours.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions following ethical guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to discuss studentsโ€™ progress, coordinate interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as required, ensuring students receive timely support during emergencies.
  • Advocate for studentsโ€™ needs within the school system and address barriers to educational success.
  • Keep abreast of the latest research and developments in social work practices relevant to an educational environment.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily serve students from diverse backgrounds, each facing unique challenges related to their mental health and academic performance. The population may include students with behavioral issues, learning disabilities, emotional distress, and those seeking support during transitional life changes.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Social Work from an accredited program is required.
  • Current active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development, educational methodologies, and counseling techniques specific to the school setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build rapport with students, families, and educational staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex psychosocial issues effectively.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in a school or educational setting, preferably engaging with children and adolescents.
  • Experience coordinating services with external agencies, such as mental health providers, developmental services, and child welfare organizations.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and telehealth practices for remote counseling services.
  • Prior involvement in creating training materials or conducting training on mental health issues in schools is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
