Job description

Who We Are

The Rochester Regional Joint Board (Workers United, SEIU) supports over 9,500 working people across Upstate New York. We protect their rights, push for fairer wages, and make sure they have a voice on the job. Right now, we need an organized, dependable Administrative Assistant to keep our main Rochester office running smoothly. If you're tired of rigid corporate spaces and want a job where your daily work actually helps local families, this is it.

How the Hybrid Schedule Works

  • You will be on-site at our Rochester office three days a week—specifically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Mondays and Fridays are remote work-from-home days, though you will still keep regular core working hours.

The Daily Work

  • Answering the main office lines, routing calls, and greeting union members who walk through the front door.
  • Sorting and processing physical mail while keeping both paper and digital files properly filed away.
  • Updating our member databases when information changes so our records stay accurate.
  • Helping leadership stay on track by scheduling meetings and prepping packets for upcoming union events.
  • Ordering office supplies before things run out and checking in with regular building vendors.

What You Bring to the Table

  • You are comfortable using standard office tech like Word, Excel, and Google Docs, and you aren't afraid to learn our internal database systems.
  • You can be trusted with sensitive data. Since you will handle union records and personal member information, discretion is a hard requirement.
  • You know how to manage your own time. On remote days, we need to know you can handle your task list without someone checking over your shoulder constantly.
  • You enjoy talking to people. Our members come from all backgrounds, and we need someone who is patient, welcoming, and clear when answering questions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Pay Range: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on prior administrative or clerical experience.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options fully available to our staff.
  • Retirement: Access to a secure, organization-backed pension program to support your long-term future.
  • Time Off: Generous allocation of paid time off (PTO), separate sick leave, and paid observance of standard federal holidays.

Legal Stuff

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability. All hiring decisions are strictly based on qualifications and what the office needs.
