Remote Editors need strong language skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with editing software. This flexible work arrangement allows them to serve clients from anywhere in the world.

Job description

Who We Are

Hammer Media is the digital media company behind Caleb Hammer and his YouTube channels, including the hit show Financial Audit.

In just three years, we've grown to 3+ million subscribers and over 3 billion views, making Financial Audit one of the fastest-growing personal finance shows on the internet. Our content breaks down real financial situations, helping millions of people better understand their money and make smarter financial decisions. We've built an entire ecosystem around financial literacy-combining engaging media, real financial stories, and practical tools that help people create lasting change in their financial lives.

As we continue to grow, Hammer Media is expanding into new shows and formats, reaching wider audiences and creating more ways to educate.

About the Role

Hammer Media is hiring a Senior Video Editor to help lead post-production across several new YouTube shows including Front Page and a new financial show

This is a hands-on editing role. You'll own the quality and delivery of episodes from raw footage to final upload while helping guide a small team of contract editors. You should have strong storytelling instincts, high creative taste, and the ability to build efficient editing systems that allow the team to ship high-quality videos consistently and on schedule.

What You'll Do:

Edit and Deliver High-Quality Episodes:

  • Edit long-form YouTube content across multiple shows
  • Shape pacing, structure, and storytelling to maximize viewer retention
  • Integrate b-roll, music, graphics, and motion elements to elevate the final product
  • Deliver polished final cuts that meet Hammer Media's quality standards

Lead the remote contractor editing team (speed + quality):

  • Provide clear editing instructions and feedback to remote editors (structure, pacing, b-roll notes, graphics callouts, tone)
  • Review cuts, run revision cycles, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Maintain consistent editing standards across all shows
  • Coach contractors to improve performance-and upgrade the bench continuously by identifying, testing, onboarding, and retaining top-tier editors

Optimize Post-Production + Packaging:

  • Build and maintain organized workflows, templates, and editing guidelines for speed and repeatability
  • Ensure proper file management, version control, and asset organization
  • Create thumbnails and titles with a testing mindset, continuously optimizing for the highest engagement
  • Analyze video performance metrics like CTR, retention, and watch time
  • Use insights to refine editing style and improve future videos

Requirements

  • 5+ years of of editorial or documentary-style video editing experience, ideally with YouTube-first content
  • Strong long-form YouTube editing instincts: storytelling, pacing, structure, and retention
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Experience with Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop
  • Expertise in color grading, audio cleanup, and export/deliverables for YouTube
  • Experience managing or mentoring other editors
  • Highly organized and comfortable working in a fast-moving production environment

Benefits

We are an in-office team in East Austin because we believe the best ideas happen when we're in the same room. Our culture is high-energy, collaborative, and focused on radical accountability.

  • Relocation Assistance: Not in Austin? No problem. We provide a relocation package to help the right candidate join us here
  • Awesome Office & Team: Work from our East Austin office with a stocked snack bar, catered lunches, and a team that actually likes spending time together
  • Unlimited PTO: We trust you to manage your time and your results
  • Health & Wealth: 100% coverage for employee health, dental, and vision, plus a 401(k) with a company match
  • Lunch & Events: Lunch stipend and quarterly team-building activities (we go big on our events)
  • Pet-friendly: There's a good chance you'll be greeted by a few wagging tails when you walk through the door
