Electrical Designer (ED)
The Position
The Electrical Designer for Above Group shall contribute and support the Power, Lighting, Grounding, Lightning Protection, Fire Alarm, and Systems or Low Voltage Engineering efforts for the firm. The ED shall directly contribute to the Firm and its success through drafting and design efforts. This individual shall directly contribute to the Firm and its success through technical experience to effectively produce a quality design and ultimate product to the customer. The ED shall execute drafting and design duties as required to ensure quality is always maintained.
  • The ED is a Designer by education and experience:
    • Ability to combine personal judgment with information to implement design criteria.
    • Has expertise in power and lighting. Preference given to experience with grounding, lighting protection, fire alarm, communications, and electronic security systems.
    • Demonstrates proficiency with lighting calculations, panelboard load calculations, and load demand calculations. Preference given to experience with short-circuit analysis and arc flash hazard analysis.
    • Able to use computer software including Visual (or AGI32) and Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment and as an individual. Communicates well with individuals in the organization.
    • Capable of interpreting information set forth in a Basis of Design, field surveys, and code research.
    • Applies design principles to resolve design problems and tasks assigned.
    • Develops and implements design criteria and system designs from concept through detailed design and construction.
    • Coordinates and implements the design of distribution systems, lighting fixtures, devices, and equipment locations with team members within the discipline, as well as project team members in other disciplines.
    • Proficient with Revit.
    • Performs system calculations. Sizes and selects system components.
    • Reviews shop drawing submittals, and travels to job sites to perform field verification.
  • The ED develops organizational skills including technical writing and time management:
    • Uses excellent writing skills to author basis of design (BOD) narratives, design criteria documents, reports, and other high quality highly technical written documents as needed.
    • Uses excellent writing skills to edit design specifications; respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) incorporating information from project documents, specifications, shop drawings and design criteria; and prepare meeting notes.
    • Reads relevant project correspondence and maintains project design files.
    • Demonstrates willingness to work to meet deadlines as required by client demands.

Minimum Requirements
The Electrical Designer shall meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years electrical drafting and design experience at an MEP Engineering firm or A-E firm
  • Associates degree in Drafting and Design preferred but not required
  • Proficient in REVIT
  • Excellent Communication skills, both oral and written
  • This is a remote position or can be a hybrid position for local residents who desire to work in an office environment
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.
