Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Controls Analyst (Cost Engineer) to execute day-to-day project controls activities across a wide portfolio oil, gas, and remediation projects, ensuring cost performance, financial accuracy, and project transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers to develop and maintain cost-loaded schedules, perform financial forecasting, track project performance, manage annual budget forecasts, and support project reporting. You will play a critical role in delivering accurate cost management, earned value analysis, and forecasting while ensuring alignment with organizational standards and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize company project controls systems and tools to monitor, analyze, and report project cost performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and update project cost forecasts, budgets, and cost-loaded schedules.
  • Partner with Project Managers and project teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate cost and schedule risks.
  • Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare cost forecasts, variance analyses, expenditure forecasts, and progress trend reports.
  • Perform earned value management (EVM) analysis and monitor project performance against established baselines.
  • Evaluate labor, manpower, and resource requirements against budget limitations and project commitments.
  • Review project expenditures, purchase orders, subcontract commitments, and contractor invoices to ensure alignment with approved budgets and work authorizations.
  • Support scope control and change management processes, including tracking and reporting the status of change orders.
  • Develop and maintain cost and schedule baseline budgets and support cost/schedule integration activities.
  • Conduct critical path and schedule impact analyses to support project planning and forecasting efforts.
  • Prepare and deliver project controls reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in and, when required, lead project cost review meetings.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project controls procedures and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior project controls staff as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting engineering, construction, energy, environmental, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with project controls, cost management, scheduling, and forecasting methodologies.
  • Experience with earned value management, cost forecasting, and project financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and other project controls software.
