Job description

Reporting to the Mine Engineering Superintendent, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Apply engineering principles to design and develop open-pit and underground mines.ย 

  • Assist in assessing business development opportunities by reviewing project data, providing expertise and designing mines which consider regional regulations and legal requirements.

  • Serve as a resource for Agnico's southern regions, identifying opportunities for value addition through productivity, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.

  • Collaborate with operations to complete scoping or feasibility level mine designs. Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field of study. A foreign degree will also be accepted.

  • Five (5) years of experience as a Mining Engineer, Technical Services Superintendent, Mine Superintendent, Mine Production Planner or a related role.

  • Experience working with both underground and open pit mines;

  • Experience working on active mining operations, as well as mining projects at the different stages of development including scoping, prefeasibility and feasibility studies;

  • Experience supervising technical teams;

  • Experience conducting trade-off studies and implementing cutoff grade strategies to maximize mineral reserves;

  • Experience developing life-of-mine plans, budgets and forecasting;

  • Experience developing programs to monitor production and costs, ensuring accurate forecasting and budget adherence;

  • Experience developing weekly and monthly mine plans to ensure efficient resource allocation;

  • Experience designing mining processes, including drilling, blasting, ventilation, backfilling and mine sequencing;

  • Experience developing and implementing tools to track productivity and optimize cost related to drilling, blasting, mucking, hauling, material and equipment utilization and dilution control;

  • Experience conducting economic analysis for projects and identifying cost reductions that drive viability;

  • Experience declaring reserves and resources under NI 43-101 guidelines for both underground and open pit mines;

  • Experience with software tools such as: AutoCAD, ProMine, MineSight, MineWorks Planner, Datamine Studio, Maxipit & NPVS, and the Deswik Suite for mine design and planning;

  • Experience managing project contractors.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.ย 

  • This position is a remote based position, and work can be performed anywhere in the U.S.

  • International and domestic travel to Canada, Mexico and the U.S is required 15% of the time for business purposes.
