Job description

Job Purpose:

Lead the definition, development, and execution of the Well Construction Platform digital vision, establishing a unified digital ecosystem that connects engineering, planning, operational execution, and performance insights across the well construction lifecycle. This role is responsible for driving a platform-led transformation that improves Service Efficiency, reduces Non-Productive Time (NPT), lowers operational risk, and enables repeatable performance across global drilling campaigns. Transform the organization from product-line-centric software development to a platform-led operating model by creating a shared digital foundation that serves Drilling Services (DS), Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD), Wireline (WL), TRS, Drilling Fluids (DF), and future well construction technologies.

The platform will create a continuous digital thread linking planning, engineering, execution, analytics, and optimization while establishing the foundational capabilities required for remote operations and future autonomous well construction.

Responsibilities:

Platform Strategy & Vision

  • Define and maintain the long-term Well Construction Platform digital roadmap.

  • Establish a common platform architecture that addresses 70-80% of shared business requirements across product lines.

  • Drive alignment between business objectives, technology investments, and operational outcomes.

  • Develop business cases demonstrating value through service efficiency, risk reduction, operational consistency, and increased automation.

Product Portfolio Transformation

  • Evaluate existing DS, MPD, WL, and related digital products for strategic fit, overlap, and platform alignment.

  • Lead portfolio rationalization efforts to reduce duplication and maximize reuse of common capabilities.

  • Champion workflow-centric development approaches over standalone application development.

  • Establish governance processes for platform adoption and product-line extensions.

Digital Foundation Development

Lead the development of core platform capabilities including:

  • Unified real-time and historical data ingestion

  • Common well construction data model

  • Master data management for wells, assets, customers, and users

  • Analytics and reporting services

  • AI/ML enablement framework

  • Event management and alarm systems

  • Integration and API services

  • Security, compliance, and data governance frameworks

Engineering Digitization

Drive digitization and standardization of engineering workflows such as:

  • Offset well analysis
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Hydraulics modeling
  • Mechanical engineering workflows
  • BHA design and optimization
  • Well trajectory planning
  • Engineering collaboration and review processes

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Act as the executive liaison between Product Lines, Engineering, Operations, Digital Technology, and Commercial organizations.

  • Influence senior leadership on investment priorities and strategic direction.

  • Build alignment across diverse stakeholders with competing priorities.

  • Communicate platform value, adoption plans, and business outcomes.

Technology Expectations

  • Percentage of common capabilities reused across product lines

  • Data quality and accessibility improvements

  • System integration coverage

  • AI/analytics utilization rates

  • Platform reliability and scalability metrics

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Geoscience, or related technical field; MBA or relevant business certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management within oilfield services or industrial environments, with demonstrated ownership of products that integrate hardware, field operations, and digital capabilities.
  • Direct experience with multiple OFS product lines
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical capabilities into commercial value.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with wireline telemetry, real-time data systems (e.g., Warrior, Wellsite), or log interpretation platforms is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to work across teams and with customers.
  • Demonstrated experience translating operational challenges into structured, scalable workflows or digital frameworks within complex service environments.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of energy data standards (e.g., WITSML) and system integration principles, with the ability to evaluate practical implementation impact on field operations.
  • Practical understanding of applying analytics or automation within operational workflows where data quality, context integrity, and decision defensibility are critical.
  • Familiarity with platforms like Techlog, Spotfire, Petrel, or cloud-based analytics portals.
  • Field experience with Wireline or Slickline operations is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in product management tools (e.g., Jira, Aha!, Trello).
  • Understanding of financial modelling and business case development.
  • Ability to assess digital initiatives critically and prioritize based on operational impact, execution feasibility, and commercial value.
  • Comfortable operating in environments where processes may be loosely defined and capable of driving clarity, structure, and alignment without excessive rigidity.
