What are remote disability services?

Remote disability services refer to support and assistance provided to individuals with disabilities through virtual or online platforms, rather than in-person interactions. These services can include counseling, accessibility support, educational accommodations, job coaching, and assistive technology training, all delivered via phone, video calls, email, or specialized software. Remote disability services aim to ensure that people with disabilities have equitable access to resources and opportunities, regardless of their location. They have become increasingly important as technology advances and as more people work or study from home.

The ideal candidate will possess independent licensure (LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT) and demonstrate a strong commitment to ethical practice and continuous professional development.

About the Organization

Sun River Behavioral Services is a leading community health clinic dedicated to improving the psychological and emotional well-being of individuals in Riverside, California, and the surrounding areas. We create a supportive campus environment that prioritizes mental health, providing confidential individual and group counseling services alongside proactive campus-wide mental health programming. Our mission is to empower clients to navigate their emotional challenges effectively, equipping them with the tools necessary for resilience and recovery.

Work Environment

This role is fully remote, which allows for flexibility in work-life balance while still being part of a closely-knit team dedicated to client care. Despite working from various locations, our counselors participate in regular video meetings and collaborative initiatives to foster teamwork and share professional insights. As part of a community health clinic, you will engage with a diverse client base, contributing to a culture that values inclusivity, support, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor at Sun River Behavioral Services, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing effective individual and group psychotherapy sessions while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and ethical practices consistent with professional guidelines.
  • Documenting client progress and maintaining accurate progress notes in our clinical management system to ensure continuity of care and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
  • Participating actively in weekly clinical supervision meetings to discuss cases, share insights, and collaboratively enhance treatment strategies.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay current with emerging trends in mental health counseling and contribute to strategy sessions for program improvement.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work with a diverse population, including individuals facing a range of challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal relationships. Sun River Behavioral Services emphasizes cultural competence and personalized care, ensuring that each client feels respected, valued, and understood. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing their emotional well-being and overall quality of life.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling.
  • Possession of an independent license in California: LPCC, LCSW, or LMFT.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to complete comprehensive progress notes efficiently.
  • A commitment to maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality in all client interactions.
Preferred Experience

While the following are preferred and will enhance your application, they are not mandatory:

  • Experience working in a community health setting or with a similar patient demographic.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Prior experience in developing workshops or group therapy sessions focused on stress management and coping skills.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 115,000 to 130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and education. Additional benefits include:

  • 401(k) plan with company matching for your retirement savings.
  • Comprehensive dental and health insurance coverage.
  • Disability insurance and life insurance for your peace of mind.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providing resources for personal and professional challenges.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO), allowing for rest and rejuvenation.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Sun River Behavioral Services, we are dedicated to fostering the professional growth of our team members. Counselors will have the opportunity to pursue ongoing training and certification in specialized therapy techniques, attend conferences, and participate in mentorship programs, paving the way for potential leadership roles and increased responsibilities within the organization.
