Detailer – Division 8 Commercial Detailing for Cap8 Doors & Hardware


Job Overview

  • Company: Cap8 Doors & Hardware
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $80,000 to $95,000 per year (Based on experience) plus Performance Based Bonus
  • Location: Washington, D.C. (Remote / 3 onsite visits per year)
  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time
  • Project Scope: Division 8 Detailing
  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: AHC preferred


The Opportunity

You will serve as a critical project asset, driving the execution of precise technical submittals and complex shop drawings. This role allows you to thrive in a fast-paced environment that actively supports and promotes diversity and inclusion. You will have the autonomy to streamline operations while enjoying the flexibility of a primary remote work structure.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • Generate and manage precise technical submittals consistently to adhere to strict project specifications.
  • Compile comprehensive submittal packages covering critical RFIs, material schedules, and manufacturer data.
  • Review complex plans and specifications thoroughly to input accurate details into the order management system.
  • Collaborate closely with Estimating and Project Management teams to clarify and execute the project scope.
  • Employ strategic buying programs and vendor negotiations to reduce project costs and maximize budget efficiency.
  • Validate vendor quotes and specialized product requirements daily to guarantee readiness for orders.
  • Maintain detailed conflict records and propose engineered solutions during technical detailing meetings.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within division 8 construction industry detailing technical project work.
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret plans, specifications, addendums, and modification documents.
  • Experience managing field documentation and schedule revisions driven by change orders.
  • Willingness to travel to office 3 times a year


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • More than 7 years of dedicated commercial detailing experience.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the construction industry with a specific emphasis on Division 8 Specialties.
