Job Title: Medical Consultant Physician

Specialty: Medical Doctor / Physician; specialists such as Ophthalmology or Pediatrics may be needed based on referrals.

Site: Social Security Administration (SSA)

Duration: Long-term

Shift Schedule: Flexible / Case-volume based

Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks

License: Active medical license in any one of the 50 states, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.

Education: Medical Doctor / Physician

Experience Needed:

  • Prior experience working with or supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) is required.
  • Experience reviewing SSA disability claims, medical evidence, or disability determinations is strongly preferred.

Special Skills Needed:

  • Strong knowledge of SSA disability programs, policies, and case review processes.
  • Strong medical case review and documentation skills.
  • Ability to complete accurate assessments within required timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Review SSA disability claims and supporting medical evidence.
  • Prepare accurate, policy-compliant medical assessments.
  • Complete assigned cases within required turnaround times.
  • Participate in required SSA training and quality-review activities.

Misc: Favorable suitability determination required. SSA provides a laptop and access to required systems. The monthly quality target is 96%, with an average turnaround requirement of 5 business days.
