Hires local to the Twin Cities Metro-Area can anticipate an in-office component of 1-2 days a week, employed with Bold Orange. If this position lists, “Open to Remote”, hires outside of the metro area can anticipate travel to our Minneapolis, MN office on an as-requested basis. Position Summary:

Bold Orange is seeking a driven, strategic, and digital and technology driven Director, Client Strategy & Services to serve as a senior client leader and trusted advisor. As a member of the CSS team, you can expect to understand, analyze, strategize, ideate, collaborate, contribute, and lead client solutions that deliver “And Then Some” to drive meaningful results for our clients. 

As a digital-first agency, we are looking for candidates with demonstrated experience in developing and executing on strategies across digital touchpoints to create seamless customer experiences through enablement of data and marketing technology. This includes deep expertise in marketing automation platforms and CRM strategy, enabling data-driven, personalized engagement across the customer journey.

You will guide clients in defining and evolving their marketing automation capabilities—particularly within platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud—ensuring strategies are scalable, data-driven, and aligned to business objectives.

While this is not a hands-on execution role, the ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of how marketing automation platforms work, enabling them to confidently advise clients, shape roadmaps, and partner with delivery teams to bring strategies to life.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead Digital Strategy and Execution: Apply deep expertise across digital channels and technical platforms—including email, website, and marketing automation—with a strong emphasis on strategic planning and performance-driven execution
  • Drive marketing automation strategy and execution that align with business goals, leveraging platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot, Braze, etc. 
  • Partner closely with client teams including marketing, technology, operations, finance, analytics, technology, and senior management 
  • Build client relationships at the highest level and actively work to unlock new opportunities 
  • Lead the development of strategic, data-driven marketing approaches across channels, with a strong emphasis on marketing automation, CRM, and lifecycle strategy
  • Lead and inspire cross-functional agency teams to deliver strategically sound, insight-driven work for our clients. Set the vision and create the strategy for our work and develop solutions to drive results for our clients
  • Develop, nurture, and grow strong senior-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on marketing strategy, customer experience, and marketing technology
  • Partner closely with client teams including marketing, creative, operations, finance, analytics, product, technology, and senior management
  • Develop and clearly articulate well-informed, clear points of view to confidently lead and guide our clients 
  • Author project briefs 
  • Monitor industry developments and best practices to inform strategy and keep clients ahead of the curve

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or equivalent work experience 
  • 7+ years of experience in an agency setting 
  • 8+ years relevant work experience across Digital, creative, marketing automation, CRM, and paid media, with a heavy emphasis and interest in the digital strategy required to execute in these channels 
  • Passion for learning the client’s business, including company business goals and objectives, products, markets, brand positioning, competitive landscape, industry, distribution, etc. 
  • Strong understanding of digital and MarTech ecosystems, customer journeys, and omnichannel campaign execution. 
  • Experience advising clients or stakeholders on how to effectively leverage marketing technology to achieve business outcomes
  • Ability to translate complex technical and data concepts into clear, compelling client-facing narratives and strategic recommendations
  • Proven ability to develop strategic frameworks and roadmaps for marketing automation and customer engagement programs
  • Ability to anticipate, plan and prioritize to manage the workload effectively and efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to diplomatically handle a fast-paced work environment 
  • Strong attention to detail

Final offers reflect a candidate’s skills, experience, and the market at the time of hire. Final compensation for this role is anticipated to be between $105k- $150k annually for the Twin Cities market.
