About this role:

Consertus is a rapidly growing firm with high standards for proposal quality. The Associate Director, Business Development is a senior proposal expert who knows what great looks like. This means translating complex technical content into clear, concise narrative and sharpening the work of others before it goes out the door. Proposal excellence is the core of this role. Working alongside Business Development Leaders, this role ensures the most strategic proposals go out the door with the right positioning, the right message, and a clear line to client needs. If you take real pride in the quality of a submission and know how to develop that same instinct in junior staff, this role was written for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead pursuit strategy and competitive positioning for assigned markets.

  • Write and develop proposal content across active pursuits, conducting interviews with technical subject matter experts to extract win themes, project experience, and firm positioning. Review and sharpen submissions from the team before they go out the door.

  • Facilitate go/no-go decisions aligned with firm capabilities and growth objectives.

  • Monitor Salesforce pipeline data, ensuring revenue forecasts, probability adjustments, and stage progression are accurate and current.

  • Lead client debriefs and share insights across the organization to improve competitiveness. Represent assigned markets in enterprise growth discussions and strategy meetings.

  • Mentor and train Proposal Managers & Coordinators in best practice proposal management, including pursuit planning, compliance review, content development, win theme articulation, and production quality standards, while fostering cross-functional coordination with Sales, Marketing, Contracts, and Knowledge teams.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree or professional certification preferred.

  • 10 or more years of experience in proposal writing/management within capital program services environments.

  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement, RFP-driven sales cycles, and government contracting environments.

  • Demonstrated success leading complex pursuits and influencing revenue growth.

  • Experience managing pipeline strategy and forecasting within Salesforce or comparable CRM system.

  • Strong executive communication and client engagement skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including use of styles and templates.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing proposals for infrastructure markets, including aviation, transit, water, roads and highways.

  • APMP certification

  • Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign and Illustrator

Working hours & location:

  • Full-time, Exempt. Standard business hours with occasional evenings and weekends during peak workloads.

  • Hybrid or Remote role with approximately 10% travel.

  • Candidates based in North America and within proximity to a Consertus office are preferred.

Compensation Range: $140K - $160K. Varies depending on location and experience.
