Job description

The financial industry is growing at a record pace, but our data providers are still stuck in the past โ€” with cumbersome onboarding processes, complicated APIs, slow infrastructure, and expensive licensing costs.

Databento is the market data platform for modern finance. The company provides real-time and historical data across futures, options, and equities through a unified API. By owning the entire market data stack end-to-end, Databento is the first platform of its kind to combine the performance and reliability demanded by the world's leading trading firms with a dramatically simpler developer experience. Our team includes alumni of Two Sigma, Citadel Securities, Flow Traders, Tower Research, PDT Partners, SIG, and other top quantitative firms.

We're looking for our first Exchange Relations Manager to own exchange onboarding, licensing, compliance, reporting, and exchange relationship management across our growing portfolio of global market data offerings.

This is a highly cross-functional role spanning operations, product, compliance, and strategy. You'll work with more than 100 exchanges and trading venues globally, helping ensure we can launch new datasets quickly while remaining compliant with licensing requirements.

The ideal candidate has previously managed exchange relationships, market data licensing, compliance, or administration functions at a financial services firm, market data vendor, exchange, or trading venue.

As the Exchange Relations Manager at Databento, you will:

  • Own exchange onboarding, applications, agreements, and licensing requirements for new trading venues and market data feeds
  • Manage exchange reporting obligations, including monthly usage reports, subscriber reporting, and audit requests
  • Ensure exchange licensing timelines stay aligned with engineering and product roadmaps
  • Facilitate customer onboarding by helping customers navigate exchange licensing requirements and subscriber agreements
  • Partner with product teams to design market data offerings that align with exchange licensing restrictions and policies
  • Work with commercial and marketing teams to implement pricing structures, user agreements, and usage policies for new datasets
  • Manage relationships with exchanges and trading venues, ensuring internal stakeholders remain aware of licensing, policy, and pricing changes
  • Monitor customer usage and reporting data to identify opportunities for commercial upgrades and expanded licensing relationships
  • Drive process improvements across exchange administration, reporting, licensing, and related operational workflows

Requirements

  • Prior experience in exchange relations, market data licensing and administration, compliance, data onboarding, or a similar role
  • Strong familiarity with exchange agreements, subscriber reporting, audits, and licensing requirements
  • Ability to manage a large portfolio of external relationships and coordinate across multiple internal teams
  • Strong operational and project management skills
  • Willingness to operate in a fast-moving environment and build processes where none currently exist

Nice to haves

  • Existing network within the exchange and market data ecosystem

We offer health, dental, disability, and life insurance benefits, as well as 401(k) matching for full-time employees. We accommodate 100% remote work, with teammates living around the globe and paid in their local currency.
