Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced specialist lawyers in real estate, tax, bankruptcy/restructuring, and trusts & estates, with expertise in legal scenario design, attorney-quality reference response drafting, structured review, and specialty legal reasoning evaluation.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on specialty legal scenario design, attorney-level legal analysis, realistic workflow simulation, rubric-based evaluation, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their legal practice experience to design realistic specialty scenarios, evaluate AI-generated legal responses, and provide structured feedback based on established legal and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Specialty Legal Scenario Design

  • Design realistic legal scenarios drawn from real estate, tax, bankruptcy/restructuring, trusts and estates, or related specialty practice areas
  • Create tasks involving real estate purchases and leasing, M&A tax structuring, Chapter 11 matters, estate planning, trust formation, or specialty workflows
  • Develop scenario materials that reflect real-world legal practice, practitioner judgment, and high-stakes legal analysis
  • Ensure scenarios are clear, realistic, technically accurate, and appropriate for structured evaluation

Attorney-Level Reference Responses & Legal Review

  • Write attorney-quality reference responses for specialty legal tasks
  • Evaluate AI-generated responses against legal accuracy, practical judgment, issue spotting, and professional standards
  • Review outputs involving real estate agreements, tax analysis, restructuring workflows, estate planning, trust administration, or related specialty materials
  • Identify gaps in legal reasoning, incomplete analysis, weak drafting, unsupported conclusions, or commercially impractical recommendations

Rubric-Based Evaluation & Feedback

  • Grade legal responses against structured rubrics and project-specific evaluation criteria
  • Provide clear written feedback explaining response strengths, weaknesses, and legal reasoning issues
  • Participate in onboarding and specialty calibration sessions to align review standards
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment across submitted legal evaluation work

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in real estate, tax, bankruptcy/restructuring, trusts and estates, or a related specialty legal practice
  • Experience as an in-house specialist, partner, senior associate, former government attorney, agency attorney, or comparable legal practitioner
  • J.D., LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent legal education from an accredited law school
  • Active, inactive, or comparable legal qualification relevant to the applicable jurisdiction and project scope
  • Excellent written communication skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment

Relevant Specialty Experience May Include:

  • Real Estate: commercial leasing, residential and commercial purchase agreements, title opinions, UCC liens, 1031 exchanges, zoning, or real estate development workflows
  • Tax: M&A tax structuring, IRS controversy, SALT nexus analysis, transfer pricing, 501(c)(3) applications, 280G, partnership or LLC tax allocations
  • Bankruptcy / Restructuring: Chapter 11 petitions, DIP financing, 363 asset sales, plans of reorganization, automatic stay relief, creditor/debtor workflows
  • Trusts & Estates: estate planning, will drafting, trust formation, trust administration, wealth transfer planning, or fiduciary matters

Educational Background

  • J.D., LL.B., LL.M., or equivalent legal education may be relevant depending on jurisdiction and project scope
  • LL.M. in Tax, Estate Planning, or a specialty legal area may be especially valuable
  • Professional experience in real estate, tax, bankruptcy/restructuring, trusts and estates, or specialty legal advisory work is highly relevant

Nice to Have

  • Cross-specialty experience across multiple practice areas
  • In-house experience at a real estate developer, financial institution, wealth management firm, family office, or comparable organization
  • Bankruptcy court experience, trustee work, creditor-side work, debtor-side work, or restructuring advisory experience
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, or evaluating specialty legal documents, transaction materials, tax memos, estate planning documents, or restructuring filings
  • Availability for at least 15 hours per week, with higher availability preferred depending on project scope

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply specialist legal expertise to structured remote project work
  • Contribute to high-quality legal reasoning review, specialty scenario development, and rubric-based evaluation
  • Work on flexible assignments aligned with your real estate, tax, bankruptcy, restructuring, trusts, or estates background
  • Use your practitioner-level judgment to evaluate specialty legal reasoning, drafting quality, and practical accuracy
  • Remote structure with competitive hourly compensation

Contract Details

  • Independent contractor role
  • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
  • Eligible professionals may be based in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom depending on project needs
  • Expected commitment of at least 15 hours per week, with higher availability preferred depending on project scope
  • Competitive rates between $80โ€“$130 per hour depending on expertise and project scope
