Job description

Data Governance MDM Consultant

Location: Raleigh/Remote/Work from Office

Duration: 6+ Months

Job Purpose: The Data Governance MDM Consultant is responsible for the design of Master Data and Reference Data Management framework and processes.

Advises on industry standards and best practices for developing policies, guidelines, tools, metrics, and standards for managing Master Data and Reference Data.

Collaborates with MDM/RDM technical (IT) resources for process and system management.

Enables the development of ‘Data as an Asset’ culture at Parexel.

Collaborates with Data Curation, Data Engagement, Data Quality, Reporting Group, and IT teams to achieve strategic outcomes.

Key Accountabilities:

Accountability - Supporting Activities

Data Innovation and Compliance - Assist in the planning of future state MDM/RDM framework, policies, standards and processes. Devise MDM/RDM metrics and KPIs.

Data Management - Contribute to the creation of complete and accurate MDM/RDM data lineages. Provide documentation for MDM/RDM in support of downstream dependencies, data modeling, reporting, and architecture. Ensures MDM/RDM aligns with data governance policies and conforms to business rules.

Data Support - Troubleshoots issues related to MDM/RDM management and identifies opportunities for improvement. Coordinate and communicate with operational departments to maintain standards for MDM/RDM.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration - Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives. Lead the creation and maintenance of MDM/RDM Data Owners directory for use in decision making, issue resolution, change management, communication, and escalation pathways. Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on MDM/RDM.

Skills:

Expert knowledge of Master Data Management and Reference Data Management

Thorough understanding of the Governance of Data; data collection, consumption, applicable laws, policies and best practices

Outstanding problem-solving, written communication, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills

Ability to understand near term and long-term needs of the business and how data strategy and governance support those needs

Understand enterprise-level data quality, data analytics and related metrics

Ability to work effectively in a matrix team, communicating, influencing and collaborating across multiple teams

Ability to accurately determine length and difficulty of tasks and projects

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience implementing and managing MDM and RDM

Experience with MDM/RDM platforms

Knowledge and experience with Data Management and Enterprise Information Management

Experience in Data Governance or Data Analytics key roles

Understanding of the life sciences and Pharma industry data needs a plus

Familiarity with data privacy, security, and governance trends, including future trends

Demonstrated experience of stakeholder / relationship management with a client focused approach to work

Familiarity with multiple domains and/or cross-domain understanding

Education:

Degree in computer science, business, pharmaceuticals, life sciences or a relevant field is preferable.
