Job Description:
Data Architect
Location: Onsite: Raleigh, NC; Charlotte, NC; Winston-Salem, NC; Richmond, VA; Atlanta, GA
Role Overview
Our organization is seeking a Data Architect to support a transition to a service-centric, machine-readable operating model. This role is responsible for defining the structure, standards, and architectural guardrails that govern service and configuration data. The Data Architect will establish how data is modeled, related, and controlled to build a coherent foundation for service-aware workflows, analytics, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define the target-state architecture for service and configuration data, including class design, relationship patterns, and lifecycle alignment.
  • Establish modeling principles that support service-aware visibility, operational usefulness, and long-term maintainability.
  • Create architectural guardrails for how service and configuration data should be structured, governed, and evolved.
  • Design the principles and patterns used to reconcile data from multiple authoritative and contributing systems.
  • Define rules for ownership, precedence, and appropriate use of source data within the model.
  • Establish architectural patterns for lifecycle progression, service ownership, and certification workflows.
  • Work with service mapping, platform engineering, integration, and governance stakeholders to ensure the data model supports downstream use cases.
  • Resolve architectural questions that affect service visibility, dependency understanding, and automation readiness.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Extensive experience in data architecture, CMDB architecture, or enterprise information modeling roles. Candidates must have experience participating in and delivering outcomes for large enterprise-level initiatives.
Technical Skills: A deep understanding of service and configuration data models, lifecycle governance, and architectural standards is required. The role demands a strong ability to define target-state structures, governance patterns, and reconciliation approaches in complex environments. Core products for integration include CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, ITSM, ITOM, and Service Mapping.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience supporting common service data models and service-centric operating models.
  • Background in banking or other highly regulated or operationally complex environments.
  • Familiarity with discovery, monitoring, asset, and operational data sources that contribute to service understanding.
  • Relevant data, architecture, or platform certifications.
  • Experience in environments where cultural fit, urgency, and a focus on outcomes are important.
