Job Title/High-Level Position Summary:

  • The Data Warehouse Architect partners with the Sales Operation Team, IT, Sales Management, Finance, and Marketing to build comprehensive reporting tools to support multiple Business Units (BUs). This position is responsible for ensuring data integrity and analytics to support various business strategies and constructing sustainable buildouts within PowerBI and its supporting tables.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis

  • Manages, analyzes, and resolves data-related issues.
  • Compiles data from a variety of applications, systems, and sources to create/summarize for analysis.
  • Compares DJO data against data standards, both existing and those needing to be created.
  • Conducts data cleansing to eliminate old, unused, or duplicate data from system(s) for better management and quicker access.
  • Creates data quality metrics and reporting to validate and enforce operating and key control activities.
  • Identifies areas for data quality improvements and helps resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, and/or process design strategies.
  • Provides data consulting in support of both business and Information Technology initiatives to improve sales performance, go-to-market strategies, master data management, and KPI management.

Data Governance

  • Develops data warehouse mapping, including importing and exporting data, data mining techniques, ensuring data integrity and standardization, and creating intermediate level queries, macros, models, and reports.
  • Ensures Master Data integrity in key systems by developing and documenting the processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity and maintaining the processes to support the data quality.
  • Works collaboratively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and data stewards to define and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs that ensure Enterprise Data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.

Reporting and Business Intelligence

  • Focuses on automation and repeatability to improve team productivity and empower frontline users to understand their customers and business better.
  • Builds, automates, maintains, and reports metrics and dashboards for various levels of leadership and teams across Sales, Marketing, and other functions.
  • Supports Leadership with analytics for decision making.
  • Performs advanced data analysis using SQL, PowerBI, Python and similar tools to solve business problems or service requests.
  • Performs statistical, financial, and operational analysis and modeling from data mining and presents findings, trends or business recommendations.
  • Provides back-end database transition support and conducts PowerBI training for Sales Operations and other shared services.
  • Publishes and schedules automated refreshes per business requirements.
  • Develops tabular and multidimensional models that follow industry best practice.
  • Develops complex DAX equations for customized data set requests to support projects and continued build out.
  • Develops visual reports, dashboards, and KPIs within PowerBI.
  • Develops custom visuals for specific data in PowerBI.
  • Integrates PowerBI reports into other applications, such as SalesForce.com.
  • Works with other Analysts and the Business Intelligence team to identity and understand source data system(s) and business requirements for solutions delivery.
  • Participates in investigation of new technology solutions and selection of new technologies including consulting on requirements and building prototypes.
  • Partners with IT to develop and deploy data security strategies (e.g., RLS, Access Governance).
  • Defines paths for independent user access that drive increased efficiency.
  • Writes SQL queries to connect to data sources.
  • Designs, develops, and tests PowerBI solutions.
  • Understands business requirements and chooses a data model that best fits user needs, customizing when needed.
  • Answers reporting requests using SalesForce.com, Microsoft
  • Office, SQL, Birst, and PowerBI.

Minimum Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience specifically related to data reporting/mining, business strategy, Sales Operations, or related field equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with data visualization development tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Birst, etc.) delivering complex reports and dashboards.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, CRM systems, PowerBI, and database extraction required.
  • Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Python skills.
  • Background in Data Warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modeling) and data mining.
  • Ability to provide forward-looking analysis for BUs to gain insight on forecasting, business trending.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Management, Information Systems, Economics, Finance, or related field required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 10%

  • Experience working cross-functionally among teams and business groups required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful visualizations.
  • Preferred experience working with data extraction tools through ERP platforms (Oracle, SAP, BaaN, etc.).
  • Master's Degree in a similar field preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills. Synthesizes complex or diverse information. Identifies and understands relevant trends, opportunities, needs and market direction within the orthopedic industry and healthcare systems. Proven ability to analyze and interpret data, to provide guidance, data driven decisions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrates necessary eagerness to acquire necessary technical knowledge, skills, and judgment to serve business needs and accomplish goals. Assesses own strengths and weaknesses. Pursues training and development opportunities. Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Communicates changes and progress.
  • Ability to understand financial processes and can aid in the preparation and justification of budgets. Skilled at monitoring expenditures and uses cost benefit thinking to set priorities. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial data and exhibit proficiency in spreadsheet development and analysis.
