What is remote data analysis?

Remote data analysis refers to the process of examining, interpreting, and drawing insights from data using digital tools, while working from a location outside of a traditional office setting. Professionals in this field utilize statistical software, databases, and visualization tools to analyze large datasets and help organizations make informed decisions. Remote data analysts often collaborate with team members and stakeholders virtually, ensuring that data-driven strategies are implemented effectively. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote data analyst?

To thrive as a Remote Data Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, statistical knowledge, and a background in fields like mathematics, statistics, or computer science. Proficiency with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, and visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI is typically required. Excellent communication, self-motivation, and time management help remote analysts present insights clearly and stay productive without direct supervision. These skills and qualities ensure accurate data-driven decisions and effective remote collaboration with stakeholders.

How do remote data analysts typically collaborate with team members and stakeholders?

Remote data analysts often use a combination of communication and project management tools—such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom—to stay connected with colleagues and stakeholders. Regular virtual meetings, shared dashboards, and collaborative platforms enable them to discuss findings, gather requirements, and provide updates on ongoing projects. Clear documentation and proactive communication are essential to ensure alignment, especially when working across different time zones or departments. Building strong relationships with team members virtually can help streamline workflows and facilitate effective decision-making.

Remote Data Analysis involves interpreting data, creating reports, and providing insights using analytical tools, while Remote Data Entry focuses on inputting and managing data accurately. Both roles are performed remotely and require computer skills, but Data Analysis demands analytical expertise and familiarity with data tools, whereas Data Entry emphasizes speed and accuracy in data input tasks.

Can I get a remote job as a remote data analyst?

Remote data analyst positions are widely available and often require skills in data visualization, statistical analysis, and proficiency with tools like Excel, SQL, or Python. Many companies offer remote roles with flexible schedules, and a strong portfolio or certification can improve job prospects.

Job description

Senior Construction Project Scheduler (Data Centers)

Interstates | Multiple Locations or Remote (Preference for Office Locations)

At Interstates, we know that project success starts long before boots hit the ground. It begins with a schedule-crafted with precision, grounded in real-world conditions, and built by someone who understands how to keep complex hyperscale data center projects moving safely and efficiently.

If that sounds like you, you're in the right place.

What You'll Do

Project Planning

  • Partner with estimating, project management, and operations leadership to break down complex hyperscale data center projects into clear tasks, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Support the creation and structure of work packages aligned with field workflows and execution strategies.
  • Provide scheduling guidance during project pursuit, planning, and execution phases.

Schedule Development

  • Build and maintain detailed schedules using Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject.
  • Define activity sequencing, dependencies, and duration based on scope, drawings, and project leadership input.
  • Establish schedule baselines in partnership with project leadership.
  • Develop and oversee multiple project schedules simultaneously across large-scale data center programs.

Critical Path & Schedule Analysis

  • Identify, maintain, and communicate the critical path and near-critical paths.
  • Develop custom reports and schedule views that highlight risks and impacts.
  • Provide strategic schedule recommendations to project leadership and clients.

Resource Allocation

  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and material needs to optimize availability and utilization.
  • Identify constraints and recommend adjustments that keep work on track.

Progress Tracking & Reporting

  • Monitor schedule performance against the baseline and analyze variances.
  • Deliver updates, look-aheads, and recovery recommendations.
  • Support earned value analysis when applicable.
  • Present schedule status, forecasts, and recovery plans to senior leadership and client stakeholders.

Risk Management

  • Identify schedule risks including long-lead materials, design changes, subcontractor delays, weather impacts, and procurement impacts.
  • Build mitigation strategies and integrate contingency plans.
  • Work with project leadership to develop what-if scenario planning.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as the scheduling subject matter expert for assigned projects.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Project Schedulers and project teams on scheduling best practices.
  • Support the continuous improvement of scheduling standards, templates, and processes across the organization.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, programmers, field leaders, subcontractors, and clients to maintain alignment.
  • Lead schedule review meetings and support timely issue resolution.
  • Collaborate directly with owners and trade partners to ensure schedule alignment across all phases of construction.

Software Utilization

  • Maintain advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, including resource loading, WBS structuring, baselining, and quality checks.
  • Ensure schedule quality meets company and industry standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of construction scheduling experience, with at least 5 years utilizing Primavera P6.
  • Experience scheduling large industrial, mission critical, or hyperscale data center projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of CPM scheduling principles and schedule recovery planning.
  • Industrial construction and/or MEP experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of construction methods, industrial processes, and project execution.

Travel & Location

  • Travel up to 50%, depending on project needs.
  • May be based in Tulsa, OK | Omaha, NE | Sioux Center, IA | Sioux Falls, SD.
  • Remote considered with preference given to candidates near an Interstates office.
