Tokio Marine HCC - Cyber & Professional Lines Group
The Tokio Marine HCC - Cyber & Professional Lines Group's Cyber Claims Team is seeking a self-motivated attorney to join our growing Claims Department and manage first and third-party claims, including class action litigation, arising under various specialty Cyber, Technology Errors and Omissions, and other professional liability policies. Position Overview
This position involves interpretation of coverage and requires collaboration with outside counsel and vendors in analyzing and resolving claims within designated limits of authority. This includes investigation, analyses of liability and damages exposure, drafting and issuance of coverage position letters, and development of strategies for resolution of litigated and non-litigated first and third-party claims. The Claims Attorney is also responsible for determination of probable loss exposure and establishment of reserves, as well as maintenance of claim files and documents in accordance with Company policy and procedure. This position will report into the claims management team based in our Encino, CA office and will work claims with limited supervision from his or her desk.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of the litigation process for claims to minimize company risk of loss.
  • Analyze coverage issues, conduct investigations, and evaluate to determine validity of complex claims. May work with outside counsel and effectuate same.
  • Prepare and draft moderately complex legal correspondence to affected parties.
  • Maintain claim files. Update files as needed.
  • Communicate with agents, principals, claimants, and other attorneys both orally and in writing concerning claim status, information requests, payment/denial of claim, or related information.
  • May attend court hearings including mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
  • Assign designated claims to outside counsel including management of the process, compliance with company policy and procedure and approval of company charges/billing.
  • Negotiate claim settlement but must seek approval or denial for claims outside defined limit.
  • May provide guidance to less experienced Claims personnel including the review of settlement payments and denials.

Education, Licenses and Certifications requirements
• Juris Doctor (J.D.)
  • Licensure to practice law in the applicable state jurisdiction(s)
  • Adjuster license

An active adjuster license is required in the state of residence or other designated home state, either at the time of hiring or at the latest, within six (6) months ("Grace Period") of beginning employment, and must be maintained as current at all times, including timely completion of continuing education requirements. Employees who begin employment without being licensed, must become licensed in their state of residence or alternatively, obtain a Texas adjuster license within the Grace Period. Timely obtaining adjuster licenses in additional states, which may require passing additional licensing exams, may be required based on business need.
Experience
• Minimum two (2) to (5) years of relevant legal experience or two-plus (2+) years of relevant claims handling experience.
• Cyber Claims Handling experience
Technical Skills
• Intermediate proficiency and experience in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the following locations, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is New York, NY & Encino, CA, $115,00 - $188,000 annually. The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the Company.
