  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while exercising sound judgment and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences through various communication channels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting higher education teaching and learning environments.
  • Experience developing project plans, schedules, scope documents, or service-related deliverables.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret user feedback and system performance metrics.
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations, workshops, or training sessions.
  • Previous experience working within an academic technology or educational technology organization in higher education.

Work Arrangement

This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, with up to 80% remote work flexibility available. Occasional evening and weekend support may be required to meet business needs.

*This is a part-time, one-year, term-limited position.

Be Bold.

As a Learning Technology Engineer, you will:

  • Provide functional leadership, technical support, and user engagement for the Open Academy Platform while serving as a key resource for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Act as a liaison and backup point of contact with platform developers to support system enhancements, issue resolution, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Consult with faculty and academic partners to identify effective ways to incorporate Open Academy into courses, programs, and innovative learning experiences.
  • Analyze user feedback, usage trends, and performance metrics to develop recommendations that improve services and enhance the learning experience.
  • Support emerging teaching and learning initiatives by partnering with faculty on experimental and innovative uses of the platform.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, online resources, documentation, workshops, webinars, and web content that empower users to successfully leverage Open Academy.
  • Maintain expertise in teaching and learning technologies and related OIT services, including virtual machines, Jupyter environments, Git, and other academic technology tools.

Choose Duke.

Join a team that is transforming how technology supports teaching, learning, and academic innovation. Within Duke OIT's Digital Experience and Academic Technology Services team, you will partner with faculty, researchers, and educational leaders to deliver impactful technology solutions that advance Duke's mission of education, research, and service.
