Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon recommendation of Vice Chancellor of Education & Planning
LINE AND STAFF RELATIONSHIPS
Directly responsible to the Director of Innovative Teaching & Learning
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Instructional Designer position at River Parishes Community College is a full-time position that supports Education & Training faculty, staff, and leadership in the development, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality courses and programs across all modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online). This position reports directly to the Director of Innovative Teaching & Learning.
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • Associates degree in a related field
  • At least two years' experience as an instructional designer or similar role
  • Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of digital pedagogy & design theory
  • Proficiency with productivity and creativity suite tools (e.g. Microsoft 365, Adobe, etc.)
  • Experience with WCAG accessibility standards
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred:
  • Master's degree in instructional technology, instructional design, curriculum, or education
  • Five years' experience as an instructional designer or similar role
  • Experience using Student Information Systems
  • Administrative experience with Learning Management Systems
  • Online teaching experience

Job Duties and Other Information
PRINCIPAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND AUTHORITY
Instructional Design (65%)
  • Design, develop, and maintain master courses for various departments
  • Ensure alignment between outcomes and course objectives in all master courses
  • Develop activities/assessments for hands-on and theory classes
  • Develop teaching guides on delivering course content and assessments for master courses
  • Collaborate with a subject matter expert to complete master courses
  • Ensure accessibility standards are met in all master courses

Administrative (20%)
  • Field administration for official Learning Management System and various instructional technology tools
  • Construct instructional design agreements with division administrators for completion of master courses
  • Provide frequent status reports to Director of Innovative Teaching & Learning through meetings and progress updates in Customer Relationship Management system (CRM)
  • Contribute to quality assurance and assessment efforts in alignment with institutional standards for teaching and learning
  • Work collaboratively with other areas within Education & Training on various projects
  • Additional duties as assigned

Professional Development & Training (15%)
  • Collaborate with faculty to align course design with student learning outcomes and appropriate assessments, as assigned by the Director of Innovative Teaching & Learning
  • Provide training on utilization of teaching guides developed by the Center for Teaching Excellence
  • Support the work of the Center for Teaching Excellence by collaborating on other faculty professional development initiatives
