What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote CS Core Engineer, and why are they important?

A Remote CS Core Engineer typically requires deep knowledge of telecommunications networks, especially Core Network architecture (such as GSM, UMTS, LTE), alongside a relevant degree in engineering or computer science. Familiarity with tools like network analyzers, signaling trace tools, and certifications from vendors like Nokia, Ericsson, or Huawei are highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving skills help engineers resolve complex issues and work efficiently with remote teams. These competencies ensure reliable network performance and rapid troubleshooting, which are crucial for maintaining seamless telecommunication services.

How does a Remote CS Core Engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams while working remotely?

As a Remote CS Core Engineer, you'll frequently work with network operations, security, and development teams to ensure seamless core network functioning. Collaboration is typically managed through regular virtual meetings, project management tools, and shared documentation platforms. Clear communication and proactive status updates are essential, as team members may be spread across different time zones. You may also participate in incident response calls and contribute to troubleshooting sessions, ensuring quick resolution of network issues.

Job description

Lead Quality Engineer (Remote)
Department: Tech Dev
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Denton, Texas
Description
Be a Part of our Team!
Join a working team that is dedicated to the mission of the work we do!
Teaching Strategies is an innovative edtech organization focused on connecting teachers, children, and families. As front runners in the early childhood education market, we build dynamic, top-quality digital products that integrate all of the essential elements of a high-quality solution: curriculum, assessment, professional development, and family engagement. We are building a team of results-oriented individuals who will thrive in a collaborative, work-hard/play-hard culture. We pride ourselves on the impact we have on the early childhood field through supporting teachers who are doing the most important work there is, teaching children to become creative, confident thinkers.
Position Overview
We are looking for a hands-on quality engineering leader who treats quality as a core engineering responsibility, not a downstream testing function. This role is ideal for someone who can lead teams, establish scalable quality practices, and actively contribute to automation and delivery while driving fast, reliable product execution.
This is an AI-first role focused on building modern quality engineering processes using automation, agentic workflows, and shift-left engineering practices to improve delivery speed, product reliability, and engineering effectiveness.
Specific Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Lead and evolve AI-first quality engineering practices across product and platform teams.
  • Develop and expand agentic engineering capabilities to automate complex workflows, quality validation, and engineering operations.
  • Drive shift-left engineering practices including automation, risk-based testing, release validation, and continuous quality feedback.
  • Remain hands-on with automation, validation strategies, debugging, and delivery workflows.
  • Build and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks using Playwright across UI and API layers.
  • Use AI-assisted development and agentic workflows to accelerate testing, validation, defect analysis, and engineering productivity.
  • Partner closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams to improve release confidence and delivery quality.

Qualifications:
  • Strong software engineering and quality engineering background with leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright and modern automated testing practices.
  • Experience building and scaling quality engineering processes in fast-moving product organizations.
  • Experience using Xray for test management, traceability, and release validation.
  • Strong understanding of shift-left testing, automation strategy, and engineering quality metrics.
  • Experience applying AI-first and agentic development approaches to improve software delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to balance speed, quality, maintainability, and customer impact in a high-velocity environment.
  • Experience leading quality engineering teams in SaaS or cloud-native environments.
  • Experience with security, performance, accessibility, and resilience testing.
  • Experience improving developer productivity, platform quality, or engineering operations.
  • Background in automation engineering, or product engineering leadership.
