Cost Accounting Manager (99% Remote)

About the Opportunity

A well‑established manufacturer is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to lead cost accounting, inventory, WIP, and month‑end close activities. This organization is in growth mode, investing heavily in modernization and process optimization. They are looking for someone who can bring structure, efficiency, and fresh ideas to a hands‑on cost accounting function.

This role is remote, with onsite presence required only during month‑end close near Winona, MN.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead cost accounting processes including inventory valuation, WIP tracking, product costing, and job costing
  • Manage month‑end close activities, with heavy involvement on Days 1–2
  • Review and reconcile raw materials, finished goods, and overhead allocations
  • Analyze variances and provide clear, actionable insights to leadership
  • Partner closely with operations and finance to ensure accurate and timely financial data
  • Maintain and improve ERP data (Microsoft Navision and AS400 strongly preferred)
  • Document processes and support transition of work as needed
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, or improve reporting and workflows
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of cost accounting experience (senior cost accountant level or above)
  • Background in manufacturing or distribution required
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision and/or AS400 is a significant plus
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
