The Opportunity

AMHSA is seeking a contract Project Manager to lead a mix of conventional project delivery and technology work, including new software implementations, data integration initiatives, and stabilizing or recovering deployments that may require reset and execution. This role will also support grant-funded initiatives by managing milestone schedules and ensuring reporting deliverables are tracked and met.

The ideal candidate leads by example, embodying AMHSA's organizational values, possessing strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities.

Reporting structure for this role is matrix in nature, reporting to AMHSA Senior Leadership Team members accountable for individual projects.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end project management: scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, change control, and interested party communications.
  • Drive new software implementations (requirements, vendor coordination, testing, training, cutover/go-live, and adoption).
  • Lead data integration projects that connect systems and datasets (e.g., API integrations, ETL routines, data pipelines, and data quality/validation coordination).
  • Manage grant-funded project milestones and reporting deadlines by tracking deliverables, maintaining a clear schedule, and coordinating inputs from internal teams and vendors.
  • Get existing software deployments and/or integrations back on track by diagnosing root causes, re-baselining plans, tightening governance, and driving cross-team accountability.
  • Provide clear project reporting and maintain strong operational cadence (status, actions, decision tracking).

This hybrid position can be based at either our Calgary or Sherwood Park, AB location.

Your Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 5+ years' experience as a Project Manager delivering cross-functional initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience with software/system implementations (SaaS preferred)
  • Experience managing data integration workstreams (e.g., API, ETL, data migration, data warehouse/pipeline initiatives) in partnership with technical teams and vendors
  • Experience coordinating milestone-based deliverables and reporting requirements (e.g., grant-funded projects, sponsor reporting, or similar compliance timelines)
  • Proficient in MS Office Software Suite and related project software
  • Proven ability to recover or turn around delayed or complex project deployments
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and executive-ready reporting skills

Preferred

  • Experience working with not-for-profits (or public sector / mission-driven organizations)
  • Familiarity with governance structures, steering committees, and decision tracking
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum certification (asset)
  • Comfort collaborating with vendors/contractors on integration requirements, acceptance criteria, and data validation
  • Experience preparing or coordinating grant interim/final reporting packages (asset)
