We currently have an opportunity for an Account Manager - Target.  This is a field-based role supporting our Target business, with a preference for candidates located in the Minneapolis area to effectively support the customer. 

Responsibilities

Your Role: 

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Account Manager for Target to join our Mass Channel Sales team. This role is responsible for customer relationships with Target, executing growth strategies, and delivering revenue, profit, and market share objectives across assigned categories. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and commercial acumen with exceptional relationship-building skills, project management expertise, and the ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.

Account Strategy & Business Development

  • Execute annual customer business plans that deliver sales, share, profit, and customer performance objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships with Target buyers, planners, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify growth opportunities and strengthen strategic partnerships.
  • Own customer strategy development, leveraging consumer insights, category trends, retailer priorities, and competitive intelligence.
  • Lead line reviews, assortment recommendations, innovation presentations, and category growth initiatives.

Sales & Commercial Leadership

  • Manage day-to-day account responsibilities, including forecasting, promotional planning, pricing execution, and business performance reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to expand distribution, improve shelf productivity, and enhance customer profitability.
  • Partner with internal teams to develop customer-specific growth plans and solve business challenges.
  • Monitor sales trends, market share performance, inventory positions, and key customer metrics.

Innovation & Commercialization

  • Partner with Marketing, Innovation, and Business Units to identify and commercialize new product opportunities aligned with Target's strategic priorities.
  • Lead new item launches by coordinating timelines, customer sell-in materials, product setup, packaging requirements, and launch execution.
  • Ensure flawless execution of upcoming innovation initiatives from concept through retail launch.

Analytics & Data-Driven Selling

  • Analyze POS, syndicated, and customer-specific data to identify opportunities, risks, and emerging trends.
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling business stories and actionable recommendations for both internal and customer audiences.
  • Develop customer-facing presentations, scorecards, and business reviews that demonstrate performance and growth opportunities.
  • Utilize analytics to strengthen assortment decisions, promotional effectiveness, pricing strategies, and omni-channel performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Finance, Marketing, Category Leadership, and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Participate in customer issue resolution, inventory management, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Lead internal alignment around customer priorities and key business initiatives.

Omni-Channel Excellence

  • Support Target's omnichannel strategy by partnering with digital and eCommerce teams to improve online execution, content quality, conversion, and digital shelf performance.
  • Monitor key digital metrics and recommend actions to accelerate online growth.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Experience

  • 5+ years of sales, account management, category management, or customer-facing experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry preferred.
  • Experience managing retail accounts, preferably Target, mass retail, grocery, or omnichannel customers.

Analytical & Business Acumen

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify opportunities, and make sound business recommendations.
  • Experience utilizing syndicated, POS, or customer analytics to drive business decisions.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong working knowledge of Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with retailer portals, reporting systems, and analytical tools is preferred.

Communication & Data Storytelling

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to transform data and insights into compelling business narratives and actionable recommendations.
  • Comfortable presenting to both internal leadership and external customer stakeholders.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple functions and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
