Job description

Senior Feed Sales Representative

We're hiring a Senior Feed Sales Representative to work in the North East region (Primarily NY, PA, CT and MA). In this role you will be responsible for sales and retail support for the vibrant and growing Farm & Ranch Agricultural Retail channel.  This position is a customer facing, dynamic and consultative sales position that is key to our channel growth.  Your success will be accomplished using industry leading sales tools and by developing relationships with retailer employees (store associates, team leaders, managers, district managers). The role also requires management of a third-party broker retail team. 

This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position. The ideal candidate would be located in the New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island areas.

Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Through the sales and training process, elevate the Purina Feed brand’s/products in store conditions and presence to ever higher levels by influencing Farm & Ranch operations management.
  • Partner with retailer District Managers for training new and existing stores and selling in new and existing Purina products
  • Manage communication process between Purina Marketing, Field Sales and Retail Operations. 
  • Manage and motivate broker retail team within a specified geographic area to execute against key retail/store business objectives.  
  • Manage regional event support
  • Attend headquarter sales calls on Regional and National Farm & Ranch retailers as needed

Education and Experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2+ years’ experience training at store-level with a focus on selling (consumer packaged goods or related retail)
  • Required Travel: 70% (2-3 overnight stays each week)

 
Competencies and other skills:

  • Time management
  • Self-starter; ability to develop your own execution for your territory against the strategic plan
  • Excellent versatility, organizational, communication, interpersonal, persuasive skills
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen; sales data analysis
  • Able to relate Purina business strategies for positive outcomes 
  • Ability to manage shifting and multiple priorities, motivated, responsive manner with Shoppers and Retail store associates
  • Strong Public Speaking Skills

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Agricultural and/or livestock background 
  • Communication across platforms
  • Feed industry knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural retailers or related retail experience
  • Digital Platforms, such as Canva, Social Media, Content Creation

Compensation

  • This is a sales role that is compensated with a target mix of base salary plus commission.
  • Base salary is dependent upon experience/tenure and generally ranges between: $93,360 - $127,000
  • Target bonus is: Twenty Thousand
  • In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
