Remote Construction Software information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote construction software specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Construction Software Specialist, you need a solid understanding of construction processes, project management, and strong computer literacy, often supported by relevant degrees or certifications. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Procore, AutoCAD, or BIM systems, as well as experience with cloud-based collaboration tools, is crucial. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer support skills help you effectively assist teams and clients in a remote environment. These competencies ensure smooth software implementation, user adoption, and successful project outcomes in the construction industry.

What is the difference between Remote Construction Software vs Construction Estimator?

AspectRemote Construction SoftwareConstruction Estimator
CredentialsTypically requires knowledge of construction management and software toolsRequires estimating certifications or experience in cost analysis
Work EnvironmentPrimarily remote, using digital platformsOften on-site or office-based, but increasingly remote for estimations
Industry UsageUsed across construction projects for project management and collaborationUsed specifically for cost estimation and bidding

Remote Construction Software and Construction Estimator roles overlap in the construction industry, but serve different functions. Remote Construction Software focuses on project management and collaboration tools, often used remotely, while Construction Estimators specialize in cost analysis and bidding, which can be done on-site or remotely. Both roles require construction knowledge, but their primary focus and work environments differ.

What is remote construction software?

Remote construction software refers to digital tools and platforms designed to help construction teams plan, manage, and collaborate on projects from different locations. These solutions typically offer features such as project scheduling, document management, real-time communication, and progress tracking. By using remote construction software, teams can work efficiently without being physically present at the construction site, which improves coordination, reduces errors, and saves time. Popular examples include Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Buildertrend.

How does working on a remote construction software team differ from traditional on-site construction roles in terms of collaboration and workflow?

Remote construction software teams frequently collaborate across multiple time zones and disciplines, making digital communication and project management tools essential. Unlike traditional on-site roles, much of the interaction happens through virtual meetings, shared platforms, and cloud-based document management. This environment requires strong self-motivation, proactive communication, and adaptability to evolving technologies. Team members often coordinate closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers to ensure digital solutions align with project needs and timelines.

Only candidates located in the Denver area will be considered for this position.

We are looking for a high-caliber Construction Estimator to join our team. This is a strategic role designed for a Denver-area professional who has experience in commercial drywall and framing, with the local industry connections necessary to drive business growth.

As a remote-first position, you will have the autonomy to manage the pre-construction pipeline while leveraging your local network to secure new opportunities in the Front Range market.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $150,000 yearly

Responsibilities:
  • Cost Takeoffs & Bidding: Execute digital takeoffs and estimates for commercial drywall and metal stud framing using Stack Estimating Software.
  • Business Development: Leverage existing relationships with Denver-based General Contractors and developers to identify upcoming projects and expand our local footprint.
  • Bid Management: Manage the full bid lifecycle through BuildingConnected, ensuring timely submissions and active follow-up on outstanding proposals.
  • Proposal Creation: Craft detailed, professional project proposals that clearly define scope, exclusions, and value-engineering options.
  • Project Management Integration: Collaborate with field teams to ensure a seamless handoff from the estimating phase to project execution, providing oversight on cost controls and material procurement.
  • Lead: Help train entry-level estimators in proper techniques to become more self-sufficient. Review their takeoff and estimates for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.

Qualifications:
  • Three years of experience in the construction industry - project estimating or construction management is needed
  • Requires critical thinking, analytical skills, and very strong math skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and construction estimating software
  • Stellar communication, project management, and time-management skills are crucial
  • Possess a Bachelors’ degree in civil engineering, construction management, accounting, or related field

Only candidates located in the Denver area will be considered for this position.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Denver Market Expertise: Extensive experience working within the Denver construction landscape, with a deep understanding of local labor rates, codes, and vendor pricing.

  • Technical Proficiency: Expert-level use of Stack Estimating Software.

  • Advanced proficiency in BuildingConnected for bid management.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Teams, or Google Sheets and Google Meet).

  • Industry Knowledge: Proven track record in Commercial Drywall and Framing estimating for projects of varying scales.

  • Strategic Networking: A "growth mindset" with the ability to act as a brand ambassador to local GCs.

  • Autonomous Workflow: Ability to work effectively in a remote/home-office environment while maintaining high productivity and meeting strict bid deadlines.
