Job description

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager / Site Superintendent (SS) to serve as the on-site leader for environmental remediation and residential earthmoving projects across multiple locations. This is a high-travel role (approximately 90%), with assignments typically ranging from 2 weeks to 2 months in duration.
The Site Superintendent is the primary on-site point of contact responsible for overseeing all project work and must remain on-site throughout active construction operations. This role requires strong field leadership, experience in hazardous waste cleanup oversight, and the ability to operate effectively across varying regulatory environments.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing residential earthmoving operations and supervising hazardous waste cleanup personnel while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Leadership & Project Execution
  • Serve as the on-site lead overseeing all project activities across multiple job locations.
  • Maintain full-time on-site presence during active construction operations.
  • Mobilize to and demobilize from project sites based on assignment needs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily field operations.
  • Manage subcontractors, equipment, materials, and workforce scheduling.
  • Interpret and implement construction plans and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local construction regulations.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts and technical discrepancies.

Environmental & Hazardous Waste Oversight
  • Supervise hazardous waste cleanup personnel and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials transportation and disposal regulations.
  • Maintain strict adherence to OSHA and environmental safety standards.
  • Provide site-specific safety training to field personnel.
  • Coordinate environmental documentation and regulatory reporting as required.

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Conduct jobsite safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain HAZWOPER compliance and site-specific safety plans.
  • Ensure proper documentation, permits, and inspection records are maintained.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience within the past seven (7) years managing and supervising hazardous waste cleanup personnel.
  • Working knowledge of hazardous materials transportation and disposal regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state construction safety regulations (California experience a plus).
  • Experience planning and scheduling construction activities.
  • Experience managing project timelines and budgets.
  • Experience tracking site costs routinely.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach Training (required).
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training with current 8-Hour annual refresher (required).
  • Experience providing site-specific training to field workforce.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with residential remediation projects.
  • Experience with excavation, grading, and soil movement.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies or environmental oversight bodies.
  • OSHA 30 certification (preferred).
  • Strong leadership, adaptability, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in multi-state or traveling construction roles.

Travel Requirements:
  • 90% travel required to project sites.
  • Assignments typically range from 2 weeks to 2 months in duration.
  • The majority of projects will be located in regions spanning the Midwest to the Western United States.
  • Ability to travel on short notice and work extended hours, including weekends as needed.
  • Per diem and travel accommodations provided (if applicable-adjust as needed).

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $80,000 - $130,000 Per Year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
