Position Details
  • Title: Business Analyst
  • Location: Austin, TX 78751
  • Duration: 2 Months (Possible extension)
  • Employment Type: Contract 
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements Gathering & Documentation (30%)
  • Conduct requirements gathering with non-technical Subject Matter Experts to understand business process needs and program requirements
  • Create Use Cases, flow charts, acceptance criteria, and other documentation needed for system enhancements
  • Analyze new and existing business processes to determine how modifications and changes will impact the system
  • Assist in development of project documentation based on Client requirements
  • Assist in the development of application online help
  • Serve as a technical expert responsible for ensuring clear and effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout the Software Development Life Cycle
2. Compliance & Standards (5%)
  • Ensure that design complies with HHSS standards
  • Review computer system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program changes are possible within the existing system
3. Testing & Quality Assurance (25%)
  • Perform necessary testing of assigned programs including generation of test data, writing test scripts and execution sequences, examining test results, and debugging detected errors
  • Use current software development methods and established development standards including testing standards to ensure quality and maintainability of applications
4. Status Reporting & Communication (25%)
  • Provide status reports on enhancement activities and resolution of issues impacting the system
  • Notify immediate manager and technical lead of critical issues impacting the system''s ability to deliver services as designed
  • Attend regular status meetings to update team members including developers, business analysts, database administrators, and project managers
  • Regularly update assignments through a ticketing system to share information with project team members
  • Provide information to technical and non-technical staff via email, telephone, and formal presentations covering system functionality, data collection processes, and other technical issues
  • Communicate with both internal business groups and external entities including governmental organizations and contract service providers
5. Knowledge Transfer & Documentation (15%)
  • Facilitate information sharing to ensure knowledge transfer and elimination of single points of failure
  • Conduct one-on-one discussions and group sessions to review system documentation
  • Prepare documentation illustrating system architecture, workflows, and dependencies for project deliverables
  • Update immediate supervisor, management team members, and system stakeholders regarding recommended implementation strategies and solutions
Required Experience
  • 5 Years – Experience with Medicaid Claims Processing
  • 5 Years – Experience in business objectives and problems and identifying alternative solutions
  • 5 Years – Experience in reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating user requirements, operational procedures, and problems to automate processing and/or improve existing computer systems
  • 5 Years – Experience in writing detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop and/or modify computer programs
  • 5 Years – Experience in cost/benefit analysis of systems and alternatives
  • 5 Years – Experience in analyzing and documenting input and output requirements, such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reporting
  • 5 Years – Experience with Azure DevOps and generation of wireframes
  • 5 Years – High level of sound logic and analytical ability
  • 5 Years – Highly developed oral and written communication skills
  • 5 Years – High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
  • 5 Years – Knowledge and understanding of Information Technology industry trends, directions, and market experience
  • 5 Years – Knowledge of architectural concepts, principles, and tools relevant to infrastructure, information, applications, and organizational structure
  • 5 Years – Knowledge of emerging technologies new to company systems and the information systems industry
