Job description

We are currently looking for a Scrum Master for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project. This role will support Agile delivery teams in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, helping drive delivery execution, backlog management, process improvement, and team alignment across multiple initiatives. The Scrum Master will work closely with Product Owners, engineers, stakeholders, and government personnel to facilitate Agile best practices and ensure successful program delivery.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, sprint planning, retrospectives, daily stand-ups, sprint demos, and related Scrum activities.
  • Identify and remove blockers and impediments to help teams maintain productivity and delivery momentum.
  • Build collaborative relationships that encourage transparency, innovation, and effective teamwork across cross-functional Agile teams.
  • Promote Agile and SAFe best practices while supporting quality delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Advise government personnel on opportunities to improve process standardization, delivery execution, and team efficiency.
  • Support backlog flow, work prioritization, visibility, and accountability for team commitments and deliverables.
  • Track team progress, risks, dependencies, and action items while escalating issues appropriately when needed.
  • Partner with Product Owners, engineers, and stakeholders to maintain alignment on priorities, scope, and delivery timelines.
  • Facilitate communication across teams, leadership, and partner organizations to ensure program coordination and transparency.
  • Support documentation efforts, meeting outputs, reporting activities, and readiness for program reviews and milestones.
  • Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Agile project delivery, Scrum leadership, or software development support environments.
  • Strong experience leading Agile development teams supporting automated application deployments, scaling, and operational management activities.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale software development, software integration, and data management initiatives.
  • Expertise with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile delivery methodologies is required.
  • Experience facilitating briefings and presentations for senior leadership and capturing actions, decisions, and follow-up items.
  • Experience working with technical delivery teams in complex enterprise or federal environments.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate technical and project documentation.
  • Experience using Agile and project management tools such as Jira, GitHub, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government clearance.

Additional Qualifications
  • SAFe Certified Scrum Master (SSM) or comparable Agile certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), including familiarity with VA tools, processes, and frameworks, is a plus.
  • Technical background or experience supporting engineering-led software development teams preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
