This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Irrigation Systems Design Assistant based in Netherlands.

This remote, part-time opportunity supports the delivery of technical irrigation design projects across a specialised engineering environment.
You'll help transform core design concepts into accurate layouts, cluster details, pumphouse configurations, and professional technical documentation.
The role offers approximately 30-40 hours of work per month, making it well suited to someone seeking a flexible engineering-focused contract.
You'll work with dedicated design and office software to produce clear reports and installation documentation that support project execution.
Training will be provided in irrigation design, allowing you to develop specialised knowledge while applying your existing technical and reporting skills.
The position calls for precision, strong attention to detail, and an ability to translate technical requirements into structured documentation.
It is an opportunity to contribute to practical engineering projects while building expertise in a niche and growing area.

Accountabilities:
  • Produce accurate technical design documentation for irrigation systems, including system layouts, detailed cluster designs, and pumphouse configurations.
  • Translate core engineering concepts and design requirements into clear, precise, and professionally structured documentation.
  • Prepare engineering-style reports that accurately communicate system designs, specifications, and relevant technical information.
  • Develop comprehensive installation documentation to support the successful delivery and implementation of irrigation projects.
  • Use dedicated irrigation design software and standard office productivity tools to complete assigned technical design requirements.
  • Apply attention to detail and quality standards when preparing drawings, reports, layouts, and supporting project documentation.
  • Work independently on assigned deliverables while incorporating feedback and guidance provided through the design and training process.
  • Develop practical knowledge of irrigation system design through provided training and hands-on exposure to project requirements.
Requirements:
  • Background in mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare engineering-style reports, technical documentation, or other structured technical deliverables.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to communicate technical information clearly and accurately.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and managing assigned deliverables reliably.
  • Access to a personal computer or laptop that meets the technical requirements for the necessary design software.
  • Good written communication and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to learn irrigation system design principles and develop specialised technical expertise through training.
  • Familiarity with Irrimaker, SketchUp, Microsoft Word, or Microsoft Excel is advantageous but not essential.
  • An analytical, methodical, and quality-focused approach to technical work.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote, work-from-home position.
  • Part-time independent contract with approximately 30-40 hours per month.
  • Compensation of R250 per hour.
  • Training provided in irrigation design, offering an opportunity to build specialised industry knowledge.
  • Flexible opportunity suitable for professionals seeking part-time technical work.
  • Hands-on exposure to irrigation system layouts, technical design documentation, and engineering-style reporting.
  • Opportunity to develop practical experience within a specialised engineering field.
