Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments, understanding patients' trauma histories to develop tailored treatment approaches.
• Formulate and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at trauma recovery, drawing from best practices and evidence-based therapies.
• Utilize specialized therapeutic techniques, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to support patient healing.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, empowering patients to explore their trauma, develop effective coping strategies, and work towards emotional healing.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to ensure integrated care, continually assessing patient progress and modifying treatment plans as necessary.
• Provide crisis intervention and immediate support during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring that patients receive prompt assistance.
• Educate patients and their families on trauma responses, practical coping mechanisms, and the resources available to support their recovery.
• Maintain compliant, accurate, and confidential patient documentation following legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
• Participate actively in case consultations, team meetings to discuss patient care, and professional development activities aimed at enhancing trauma-informed practices.
• Continuously update your knowledge on the latest research and therapeutic modalities in trauma care, ensuring the application of innovative practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on adults and adolescents dealing with complex trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and dissociative disorders. The diverse client base seeks supportive therapy to navigate their unique experiences and challenges. Your empathetic engagement and specialized skills will be pivotal in guiding these individuals as they work toward recovery.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Illinois.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize trauma-informed treatment modalities and a solid understanding of resilience-building approaches.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by a compassionate, non-judgmental stance.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and comfortable with digital communication tools.

Preferred Experience

• At least 2 years of post-licensure experience working in a relevant mental health setting.
• Experience with evidence-based trauma therapies and psychological assessments.
• Ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations while effectively addressing patient needs.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, demonstrating collaborative engagement with a diverse team.

Compensation and Benefits

The General Hope Counseling Center offers a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes:
